  Hike up

  We had a great hike up on the Flagstaff mountains where it was almost 20 degrees cooler (as well as about 3000 feet higher). We woke up before sunrise and had plenty of time for an extra early morning

  Hiking alone

  Since I planned on hiking alone later in the morning my early walk with Lulu would be a little longer at just under 3 miles. Just an easy trot for us before the day started to heat up. I picked the trails

  The Garden snail

  The hot and dry Arizona environment isn't really suited for land snails but given some moisture (such as after a good rain shower) you can often find the Brown Garden Snail ( Helix aspera ) out and about
