Since I planned on hiking alone later in the morning my early walk with Lulu would be a little longer at just under 3 miles. Just an easy trot for us before the day started to heat up.
I picked the trails around the White Spar campground for my hike. I hadn't covered these single-track trails in about 3 years and the Forest Service had done a major overhaul of the area putting in a huge parking area and updating the trailhead.
Plenty of cyclists but I was alone on my trail for the entire hike which suited me fine. The trail was a bunch of rolling segments but my total climb was only a couple of hundred feet over the first half.
