I rarely watch comic movies. This movie is an exception. I have watched “Spirited Away” more than three times. It is directed by Japanese famous director Hayao Miyazaki. The reason why I watched this movie so many time is the music.When I was watching this movie, I was really enjoying almost every second of the music in “Spirited Away.” This film tells a fantasy story of an ordinary 10 years old girl, named Chihiro Ogino. When she was with her parents to her brand new home, where they have never been there before, they drove to a wrong tunnel. Surprisingly, this wrong tunnel lead them to an invisible town, where is no human being there in the daytime.
When the night comes, the town suddenly woke up. There are countless ghosts and monsters suddenly appearing. Those monsters are heading to a bathhouse, which is run by an old woman, whose name is Yubaba. In this magical world, if anyone does not work hard, he will become a pig. Chihiro’s parents were punished by Yubaba because they stole the food in a restaurant. In order to save her parents, Chihiro works for Yubaba at bathroom. During her hard work, she met many new friends and experienced many incredible events. She quickly grows up and waits for the chances to save her parents and herself, although she is just 10 years old girl.
Through this movie, we can find out that this movie’s narrative logic is basically consistent with the classic narrative mode. However, “Spirited Away” is a mythical story that focuses on reality and it is not simply as a comic movie. The director Hayao Miyazaki uses the classic narrative method to familiarize the audience with the pattern structure of the whole magic story and maximize the audience's awareness without any obstacles. This help audiences quickly enter the content of the film. That’s the reason why so many people likes this movie, although some of them are not interested in the comic movies. The director Hayao Miyazaki uses his personal experience to demonstrate the spiritual contradictions in his daily social life and add new insights and reflections on the inner struggle and self-salvation into this movie.
There is no doubt that this movie is a new embodiment of the transformation process of the director Hayao Miyazaki's thoughts in recent years. Even if the movie is just about the adventures of a little cute girl, it is still surprising for audiences. The director Hayao Miyazaki hopes that every girl, who is watching this movie, will be as energetic as Chihiro Ogino in “Spirited Away”. This film is suitable for every one who is about to make a difference on his life or on the road to his life. Moreover, this movie tells everyone how to courageously deal with struggles and frustrations.
In this movie, the director Hayao Miyazaki reconstruct the world with his own values and thoughts in it. In Hayao Miyazaki’s world, there is full of temptations and traps at same time. If anyone is not careful enough, he will very soon become greedy. For example, Chihiro Ogino’s paretns enter a restaurant with full of delicious food. When they find out that there are no one in this restaurant, they start to eat the food without any permissions. Soon or later, Chihiro’s parents are punished by Yubaba. The director Hayao Miyazaki uses this simple story to warn everyone that we cannot easily break the moral rules. Otherwise, they will be punished. Anyway, it is very simple story with beautiful music. I definitely will watch it again in the future. If I have a baby girl in the future, I will watch this movie again with my children.
