That is a great question that may have many answers.
Some people favor short term gains over long term stability and growth.
Others may see the world changing potential that platforms like Steemit hold, and want to end that possibility before it becomes unstoppable.
I think that burning the rewards being disputed is much safer than redistribution.

I believe that Steemit will figure out what’s right for All Steemers unless the government gets involved, but it’s a different story. Something gets too big and all of the sudden...
