Friday 13th April 2018

This edition of The Daily is a bit 'late' because I didn't want to be up too late last night finishing it all off. I have been fortunate in that I have prepared and published most of my posts a day 'early' by publishing at least one just after midnight. That has taken care of my agreement with myself to post at least once per day. By getting the post done early on each day, I can relax and post more at will. I have found that I post more when I am relaxed. :-)

The Daily is a bit different though. I originally thought that I would race to post each edition by midnight each day, and that it would be a summary of the day and then I would go to bed. I realised quickly that unless I want the end of each day to be a frantic scramble for data to create the daily graphics, I would need to give myself a little delay at least.

So each edition of The Daily reports on the day that has just passed, and although I have been getting it published soon after midnight each day, I always knew that this was me getting ahead of myself and that if needed, there were another 23 hours to get it written and published. Today is one of those days - I'm finishing this up at lunch time on the Saturday, reporting on my Friday. I think this works quite well actually. My preference is to get it done by 1am and it's no problem if it's 1pm instead. :-)

I was in work for most of the day, the last chance for students to come in and make progress on their coursework before their deadline next Friday. I'm pleased that I got some response from the students and I'm now preparing myself for the rest of them who are going to be in for a big shock unless they have been working independently on their coursework over this holiday. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I fitted in a bit more reading today, which felt good. After a suggestion by @zuckerzombie I'm thinking about making and keeping a set of agreements for a period of time - say, six weeks - and then giving myself a week off, before repeating another set of agreements for six weeks again etc. Rinse and repeat. I think this would be a powerful way to raise certain things in my consciousness.

Writing

Thanks to a suggestion by @katrina-ariel I am thinking about adding up and including my non-project writing each day (basically my blog posts here on Steemit and elsewhere). I had thought about doing it as I had done this for a previous NaNo years ago, and then having thought about it I promptly forgot all about it until she kindly suggested it yesterday. I think it's a great idea and so I am adding 'Miscellaneous Words' to my writing metrics. I think it will be satisfying to see just how much I am writing outside of my main projects.

I'm putting up a placeholder with 0000 Misc Words for the moment as we have guests over today. Later today I will get online and start adding up all the miscellaneous words, and then I will update the graphic. (Graphic now updated. I'm pretty impressed that just on Steemit I have written over 25,000 words since joining).

Health

I felt fine for most of the day after the expedition hike yesterday, and then right at the end of the day my legs stiffened up :-) I am obviously a bit out of the habit. I'll be out on expedition next week though so I will appreciate the momentum that Thursday gave me. I also remembered to drink more water than I usually do and I think that was partly due to the hike raising my awareness.

Steemit Goals

My post count is rising healthily and my follower count is slowly rising too. Like I've said before, I'm just measuring out of curiosity and not as a goal - I have set some goals though just to keep my interest and make it feel like it is going somewhere. Am I measuring the right things? Maybe I could measure how many comments I make on other people's posts, as that is always enjoyable and would focus me more on what I am giving to others.

I'm getting there anyways, and today was just one more step in that right direction. I'll be charting my progress as I go and we'll see what works and what does not work for me. And hopefully, some of what I learn along the way will be useful to some of you, too.

Peace be with you all xxxx

I should mention @angelacs SIBWA Challenge too - the reason behind my managing to post every day on Steemit and develop not just good habits and also develop my consciousness as well.

She has a new challenge beginning each Sunday, so look out for those posts as they go up. I heartily recommend giving her challenge a go though - it is free, it is fun, and it gets me active on Steemit each day in a way that brings value to others, so imagine what doing the challenge can do for you! :-) See you in the challenge posts ;-)

Good call on the word count, and being easy on yourself with goals as well. Do you use steemworld.org? It keeps track of posts/comments for you. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. :)

I hadn't heard of Steemworld no, so thank you very much for that suggestion and I am off to check it out! :-) Edit: And I think it must be Steemworld.org?

Yes it is! lol! Edited my reply so I don't throw anyone else off. ;)

Good call, and I guess it would help if I did the same :-)

@powerfulwonders: I'm so happy that the concept of making commitments resonated with you:-) It's always a pleasure to see how you develop and refine new adjustments to your goals and share your experiences with us;-) And I also agree, that @angelacs challenge is really a game changer also for me as it keeps me motivated to stay on track to post on a daily basis! Wish you a sunny weekend!

Thank you! I learn from you so keep doing and sharing :-) Many thanks!!! :-)

By the way, I read this today and thought you might know more about this than I do. Especially the part about fermented foods and the gut biome, really interesting stuff.

Thank you for sharing this interesting link @powerfulwonders:-) I think gut health is so important because the gut acts like a second brain and has a big influence not only for your well-being but also for emotions/mood and it has its own intelligence. I do a colon cleanse at least once a year and I also take care of taking pro- and prebiotics every day with my meals:-)

Paul,

You feel so much more relaxed in this edition of The Daily. I don't know if it's because it was a Saturday... but you've been on holiday for the past couple weeks and published other editions.

It feels as if you have reached a space of flowing and enjoying your writing and publishing as they blend in to the rest of your life. This post has a sense of feeling more comfortable with how you're organizing and expressing and just Being. Feels wonderful and laid back but aware and alert. All at the same time. ;)

Then I saw what @katrina-ariel said in her comment, so it's not just me:

being easy on yourself with goals as well

Also what @zuckerzombie shared:

It's always a pleasure to see how you develop and refine new adjustments to your goals and share your experiences with us;-)

Thanks for allowing that inner radiance and self love and appreciation to rise and shine forth so much that we all feel bathed and Blessed in and by it.

Happy rest of the weekend!
