The women in Aceh, Indonesia, have a very high fighting spirit and heroic. During the Dutch colonial period (1873-1942), there were many women heroes from Aceh, such as Cut Nyak Dhien, Cut Meutia, Pocut Baren, Pocut Intan Di Biheu and others.
Now, many elderly women in Aceh work as head of their family. Every day they make a living in the market. In markets in Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh province, there are very many old women who work to sell fish, vegetables, cakes and others.
Most of them have died their husbands or their husbands are sick at home. They have to work hard to have money to feed their family members consisting of their husbands and children.
