Both devastating and deadly, flash floods are some serious business.
Earlier in the year I recorded some footage and finally got the opportunity to edit it. This was a sight to behold and an experience that was completely new to me. Thankfully, no one got hurt!
FLASH FLOODS - The Video

When we bought our land, we lived at Mundo for the first 2 years while we got some infrastructure put in place. The river flooded in the middle of the night, 5 AM we got to wade out and escort Bessie to a different pasture. Cows are not that fond of wading... The chickens were up on their roosts, their little chicken toes already in the water. My joke for the day was "I always wanted a house boat, but not THIS house!" Good times, good times... lol!
Wow! They are some serious stuff, and I like your joke. Good attitude to keep!
I really enjoyed your voice over work on this video. This video is a sad reminder for me. It was this storm that claimed the lives of 2 small children a half mile from my house because their mom decided to try to drive over a low water bridge and their vehicle got swept away. She made it out but her kids got sucked down stream. TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!
In that same flood one of my coworkers daughter decided to go tubing and got sucked under a bridge and drowned.
Your warnings are so very true and should not be ignored. I'm glad nothing happened to you.
Yeah, they are seriously DEADLY and not something to be toyed with. SO many people drive into them and learn the hard way.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the voice over. I tried to capture that classic sound.
With the right equipment and my "sound engineering" background we could make you sound like Pablo Franciso.

good post @papa-pepper
A great adventure haha! Good post
Stay safe out there, that water does look dangerous. Thanks for sharing.
It is dangerous. This was earlier this year, so obviously I made it, but you are correct. Thanks!
Maniac! Don't do stuff like that! (let me guess your parents no longer have hair or they are solid white!)
Well, @grandpa-pepper is pretty much solid white.
Seeing your antics I understand why!
I am very grateful that no one was hurt. Flash floods we never guessed, we must be careful when heavy rain. Thanks for sharing @papa-pepper.
They truly are very dangerous. Some things I do should not really be attempted.
Yes I do not dare try it. But I am very sure you are a brave and like a challenge. I really admire each of your original post @papa-pepper.
why it is my friend @papa-pepper.
A stunning recording
feels great fun while on the water..
Papa-pepper is the best..
Fans you
Wow! Thanks!
yes brother
must be wary of friends, lest anyone get hurt.
Absolutely. Very dangerous stuff to be sure.
Cool @papa-pepper . . .
That was a silly thing to do, @papa-pepper! Glad the little pepper weren't there to witness this. It could have gone so badly...
Flash floods are really serious business. Here every year during rainy season we have at least one flash flood leaving numerous people dead. During Nate we have massive flooding. We were basically trapped on the homestead for three days until the water receded enough to cross the bridge.
On another note. The video was well produced. But you should have edited the comment at the very end...Not very professional. Just my humble opinion.
I added it for fun as a joke.... it was intentional.
That explains it!
Amazing vidios @papa-pepper
its cool vidio @papa-pepper
Wow, that's kind of scary. We've been trapped up here before because flooding washed away the road completely, its not fun. Thankfully, no one was hurt and I love the little voice over warning about them being dangerous and the fact that tubing down your driveway probably saved your life. :D Stay safe my friend. :D Thanks for sharing and have an awesome day! :D
I will stay safe and thought the voice over was especially important there because I don't want people to follow my example there.
Yes it is good to remind everyone that flash floods are dangerous and just because things worked out for you it may not work out that way for them. I hope everyone listens to it and doesn't do anything that will cost them or their loved ones their lives. Its sad how many people try to get through a flood area only to get swept away and some are never found. Hopefully everybody that watches your video understands that and stays safe. :D
I think that I made it clear in the video... at least I hope so.
Glad you stayed safe. I could not see you doing anything to hurt yourself on purpose with all your little peppers and momma pepper to think about. Flash flooding can do serious damage to areas and homes.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving. That's right, just because it worked out does not mean that it was a good idea.
good post papa

The most dangerous thing in that video was rafting with your boots on. Dude that will get you killed.
I was a professional white water raft guide for a bit, so I've seen a bit of white (and brown) water in my time. I've also been rafting with some friends when i was a kid ans one of my mates had boot on when he fell in.
He went straight to the bottom - his boots filled up with water and then sucked onto his feet so he couldn't get them off. He walked out! Luckily the stream was pretty small and he made it to shallow water in time.
I learned a lot that day about thinking ahead and planning for things to go wrong.
As for the river you just rafted, completely safe (as safe as water can be). Even going down the creek would have been fine. it was not so high that i would consider it dangerous. The biggest hazard would be the trees.
But that's if things don't change.
At any time you could get a surge come down there and then all bets are off.
Watching your video got my feet itching to get back on a raft again. But I'm not sure my wife would be very keen on me doing that sort of stuff again. ;-)
Keep safe @papa-pepper, and remember, don't go in the water with your boots on, unless you plan on talking with the fish ;-)
Sure thing. The tube was actually scraping the bottom on the driveway, which was the only reason that I felt "comfortable" with that. Just "downstream" from there it got really shallow and split, so despite the random variables of the whole situation, it was "sort of" a "controlled environment."
Yeah I figured that :-)
And I'm a bit cheeky pointing out the risks, when I have taken some very stupid risks at time (and loved it). Never putting clients at risk, but putting myself out there - always ;-)
On the edge is where the most fun is. I would probably still be doing that if i wasn't married.
My wife takes a very dim view of my antics at times hehe
Upvote n follow mine too.
I hope you want to resteem. Thank hansem
I will have to watch your new edited videos from now on. That flash flood looked serious gaining momentum and speed. But the driveway with the inner tube section was hilarious, I loved the serious tone you kept. Great educational humor bro, you have found your new niche. I would definitely innertube down that driveway as well. I could only imagine a surge of flash flood redirected down the driveway
Good post, I am a photographer, it passes for my blog and sees my content, I hope that it should be of your taste, you have my vote :D greetings

You are lucky to get away with that trick.
In NZ we can have a large rainfall in the high country, this drains down through the streams into the rivers.
Trampers a long way downstream, in a bright sunlit day, start to cross the river, the upcountry rain can come down the river like a sea wave and wash the tramper off his feet, his pack stops free movement and suddenly he is checking up with St Peter.
I personally, on a search and rescue mission many years ago, have stepped into ankle deep water on one side of a peaceful looking river, by the time we had crossed to the other side of the river had risen to a bum high raging torrent.
Water has to be given great respect.
