The link to the article here, It's a short and sweet little bit about Steemit in a world reknowned magazine..! This is absolutely awesome my fellow steemsters! Sweet as pie!
"Can this Social Media Site Make You Rich?" - Rolling Stone Magazine
"If you look at companies like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit," says Ned Scott, who co-founded Steemit earlier this year, "they're taking our time and our work and our creativity and our energy, and leveraging that along with our private data to create profits for their shareholders. But with this point system – this 'magic Internet money' – the users can get paid for creating and curating content."
This is amazing news folks... Rolling Stone is read by THOUSANDS of people world-wide. Hopefully we see this sort of good press in popular places where people can discover STEEM and Steemit and join in on the fun we have on here! I can't help but feel a little proud that I'm helping a project that's received such an amazing mention in such a well established mag!

Just joined! Excited to figure it out... sharing content is key I guess huh?
Welcome Hoverboard!
Well, Not exactly. Generally I don't share links in this manner but I could not help myself this time. :)
Could be huge!
I can't stop singing that old classic rock song...
"On the cover of the rollin' stoooones"
~jams out to air guitar~
That is really great news, actually!
airguitar solo
~joins in on the air guitar solo~
Yeah man! I didn't realize we'd been featured till now so I figured others may not have known either. :)
I think I heard that mentioned during the SteemFest, or perhaps on the Steemit.chat, dunno.
Too bad you weren't there, by the way!
Finances, lack of budgeting for it and passport woes formed a holy triphecta of NOPE to me attending STEEMfest this year.
Next year I'll make my damndest effort to make it. It'd be awesome to meet everyone as humans rather than the usernames and text I've grown accustomed to. :)
Budgeting is king of making being able to afford things that you actually need, especially if you have some cashflow. 8)
It certainly was easier when I could plan and write +$100 plus posts almost as needed.. I'm working a lot harder these days but the money just isn't piling up like it did a few months back. Not a big deal though, As long as I've got enough to survive I'm content. :)
Yeah, and that is where the budgeting comes in, and helps out. However, having a pridictible income stream is a nice bonus.
I'm doing a mouth solo and hoping @xanoxt will join in on kazoo !!
Mouth solo eh? Hawt. ;)
Also please baby jesus not the Kazoo.. That instrument is basically the devils dick filled with bees if you listen closely enough to it. 0_0
Really @klye?
Jesus and the devil in the same comment?
What are you doing, reading the Bible or something man?
Are they not the same person?! XD
~/surprised sounding sarcasm~
Blessed by the dinosaur Jesus, I could use a harmonica or a jaw-harp instead. ;)
Very nice share!
Yep. I just sort of stumbled upon it by accident and immediately got giddy and started writing this post. Man I'm excited to see what comes of this advertising!
Re-steemd and shared on my now active again Twitter! :D
Thanks acidyo! good to see you're still kicking around here. :)
Likewise, buddy! :)
Any Americans migrated nearby yet? ;P
It's exciting to see a write up in such a huge publication, it's just a shame they focused on the huge payouts of the early days.
Yeah.. I do miss the first months where you could write a decent post and wake up in the morning to +$1000 payouts..
I am glad however we're not seeing some the the super high payouts we did before though.. Ever since that $16K TDV post that had nothing but a picture and a few lines of text I've sort of been leary. :/
This will come again though. If Oprah joined and all she posted was a link to a verification tweet, you'd definitely want that on the front page with the highest payout we can muster.
Comparing those two would be like comparing Ghandi and Hitler... rofl
That's great news for everyone. Now we might get more celebs so I won't be the only one on Steemit, lol.
Wait.. We have celebrities here?! lol
Would be nice to see this kick off a natural migration to check the site out. :)
Yea man, lets get you on the richlist. We're on a mission.
We have a richlist? heck I know who I'm asking for christmas presents from this year. :D
Whale Claus?
Hahaha, that is a cute image.
I agree with some other comments about the fact that iIt is a bit they used the 'get-rich-and-get-it-quickly' message... That's definitely the wrong message to use to promote Steemit (in particular today).
Let's however hope for retaining a fraction of the potential new users that could be attracted. :)
A few months ago when $1000+ payouts were still commonplace this would have had a lot more validity eh? Sort of silly to get folks in just as we prepare to open the floodgates for hardfork 16's"dumpening".
Of course note. It is the bad message anyhow, at least in the context of the longevity of Steemit.
Concerning the about-to-come hard fork, I am expecting three months of prices continuing to go down (as said in another post). Those who want to run away will, and only then we will be able to restart on a fresh basis.
Personally going to be waiting till there is blood on the streets and a roadmap has been laid out by the higher ups before I start buying up STEEM. :)
It may very well get nasty for a bit here.. Depending on where whales attempt to hold the price (or just let it drop) will have a huge effect on how much cheap weak hand Steem we can soak up.. :)
By Neil no less.
He's a great writer.
Truth be told I've maybe only ever read a few issues of Rolling Stone.
It certainly didn't do us any harm anyways! Cheers Grey.

I think it's pretty awesome that it hit the mainstream in a bit piece. Hopefully we'll get an influx of new users. But I might have celebrity envy if they come waltzing in and get huge reputation points for just saying HI.
And I've never made 1000 here. Never broke $150 so... meh.
It used to be ALOT easier when we only had a few active writers on here and tons of whales upvoting at 100%
We never used to have a slider to select vote power.. Payouts dropped a bunch once that was implemented.
Honestly, I think the slider is useless unless you're a dolphin or bigger. I give myself a head smack every time I see minnows voting less than 100%. oh.... that might explain some headaches! LOL
And I'm still licking my chops for dolphin. I'm almost there. XD
I can see voting less than 100% to be able to vote for more good content being useful. But it does kinda feel crappy when you get a whale vote pop up and go check and they 5% or whattever hit you. I guess it's the thought that counts though right?
Huzzah. Here's to "It's the thought that counts."
