RE: Steemit Newbies: Ask Me Anything (About Steemit) In The Next Hour, OPERATION HELP NOOBS

in #ama7 years ago

Voting for posts that one has not read is not good for this platform. All tools can be abused, especially auto upvote bots. I actually don't have a voting bot, but I used to. I have mixed feelings on this bot issue. Too many bots, not enough human curators will create a shitty social media site. But too many restrictive rules also throttles innovation. Automation is not going away, however, I believe that one can be a good member of Steemit, use voting bots, and provide value. I also think that if one is abusive, or overly selfish, then this platform will be abused mercilessly.
The reason I stopped using bots: I wanted to go back to the more time-consuming, but more conscious way of voting for people. However, I have recently decided I want to add some up and coming authors to a voting bot, so I'm in the process of getting that done. This is to make me freer to concentrate on projects.

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion about this topic. I think that as everything it has its advantages and disadvantages and it can be used with good or bad intentions.

I also think that in a way, having people voting automatically ... at least supports the platform and adds for the growth of it. I feel in two minds, not sure what to think about this all.

Thanks again @stellabelle!
