RE: Dance, RAVE, and Rebellion

in #anarchism7 years ago

Dancing is not an act of rebellion, or disobedience. Time to live in reality. Also an event, like a Rave (I was a rave promoter in the late 90s, professional DJ as well) is nothing like Anarchism, or anything like it. It's far closer to capitalism, and escapism, and really anything but reality. No, raves lead to drugs, escapism, and lies to yourself. That's the truth.

Sort:

If you were a live promoter and a DJ, you would know that some people may be there for escapism, but mostly people are there to do as they please, to have fun, and to reconnect with other humans and nature. You would also know that "Drugs" aren't necessarily bad.

My first rave was NASA in the summer of 1992 at The Shelter in NYC. I took about a 10 year hiatus from 98 to 08. I'm 42, a father and business owner and more of a diehard raver now than ever. Escapism is certainly a primary aspect of the culture. So is anarchy. If you ask me raves are about as close to anarcho-agorism as mainstream society has gotten thus far. And we're only just getting started. BTW, raers don't really do "drugs". Psychedelics and stimulants and sacramental and therapeutic molecular compounds. Raves are group therapy no matter what the intention upon entering one.
