Key criteria of the perfect form of government: nothing, anarchy, voluntaryism, intentional communities, democracy, republic, trade organization, etc.

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

Ok, after talking on the Peace Academy we landed at a discussion about creating a contest for what the perfect form of government might look like. Now I know you guys just want to put "none" and call it a day, but let's try to do a little better than that.

One of the challenges of libertarians and anarchists is that whenever we talk to statists about the need to change the world they inevitably talk about how moving away from the current system would lead to warlords and death and for everyone. They put the ownership on us to come up with a better system rather than acknowledging that there's a lot that's totally fucked about the system that they cheer, scream about, participate in, advocate for, and spread with glee. So, I want some ideas from the non-statists. I'm sure there are some complete anarchists that want absolutely nothing and want to barter shit or live in a society without any structure. You can put answers in too.

Personally I don't I'm quite that far. I tend to think that people do better when they work together. I just don't think that should be coercive. So, my idea is PALnet and MSP. A voluntary service based organization designed to uplift those in need. It's not really a functioning business or government that imposes rules on people that don't want to be part of it.
We basically enforce some civility and otherwise let shit go. It's a collection of independent people deciding to spend some of their time on a common mission of helping others. Government is formed of stake weighted elected officials and those they appoint with support of the rest. It's not perfect, but we've killed exactly no one, and gotten to 8,000 people without a single tax being laid. No roads yet, but we have some programs, lots of resources handed out to the needy, saved a couple moms from eviction, sent some people across the world, and got some bitch'n servers running. It's a start.

What I'd like for you to do is think of this as shopping for a government. Imagine we exist in a world where all of these various government types exist and you can join which ever one you want at any time. I'm interested in understanding what the key criteria would be for your system. How would it work, what's the basis, who is in charge, how do they get there, where's the money come from, what's voluntary, what's not... Start thinking of some of the big picture stuff.

Key things to include

Invented Name of the thing
Describe the type of government in 1 sentence or phrase (or even 1 word)
Key criteria that you think is necessary
Major red flags to avoid
Some basic guidelines of how it would work.

How it works

Make a post
Link that post in the comments with the name and 1 sentence/phrase/word that describes what it is
Best posts get a resteem
I'll toss either SBD or some minnow votes at it depending on my mood (posts written on mspsteem.com will get 2X the rewards that posts written on Steemit will)

"What I'd like for you to do is think of this as shopping for a government. Imagine we exist in a world where all of these various government types exist and you can join which ever one you want at any time. "

Well thats about my answer. I guess I can try to write a post on how you can use things like crypto to acheive that. But shopping for networks/"governments" that you want to belong to about sums it up.

That's an interesting way to pitch it, i like that a lot

I’d be interested in reading, it’s not very different from what I’m honking, but we all have a slightly different take

Need to passion with government as citizenship, with mutual help can grow the GDP, furthermore countries all rapidly grow @aggroed

I will try my best to participate and share my insights. I hope most of the ideas can be implemented. This is very challenging @aggroed! 🤔😊

How can I not participate in this?

Easy, click on profile icon top right, click "Log out". Done.

the more the participation the more powerful the state is. We have to stand united

We stand united in the fight for division!

Here is my entry:

The “Perfect” Government

An ideal state is one whose main purpose is to render itself obsolete.

A very interesting thought experiment (that might just materialize on the blockchain!). I am interested in your thoughts about DIY Governments:

Decentralized proof of stake with pyramid hierarchy either by voting for representatives or weighted individual stakes.

From mspsteem, with love and fairness.

I won't write an article about it since it will require an in-depth research and unfortunately I don't have enough time...but I think what the blockchain movement is creating now is what was proposed by Bennis (1968) as for Adhocracy a flexible, adaptable and informal form of organization.

Wikipedia: "Adhocracy is characterized by an adaptive, creative and flexible integrative behaviour based on non-permanence and spontaneity. It is believed that these characteristics allow adhocracy to respond faster than traditional bureaucratic organizations while being more open to new ideas."

Its administrative feature could be driven by tech/blockchain rules while the organizational/operational one is driven by the community that acts on problems' resolutions.

I don’t think we’ll achieve perfection for everyone because everyone have their own standards

I believe in a free market and money (units of account/exchange) where the mediums of exchange are decided upon and mutually agreed upon by the two parties involved in the buying/selling of goods or services. Currency attached to the state, empowers the state, allows for the funding of total war, enslaves the people through inflation tax, and over times always leads to a collapse of that monetary system and suffering of the people (Argentina, Zimbabwe, Weimar, Venezuela). The list of expired, extinct currencies is long, the average lifespan of a fiat is 30 years. One thing they all had in common is Government, statist, oversight and central banking authorities.

The only hope we will ever have for peace and economic stability is ending the central banks - ending the Federal Reserve and a return to sound money principles . Don't take my word for it, listen to Professor Ferdinand Lips, Antal Fekete, Ludwig Von Mises, Hans Herman Hopp, Murray Rothbard......

Until we get there, I don't care what we as a free people do. BTC, Gold & Silver, Gold & BTC, anything but the rotting leper currencies of statist dictators. Take their power - refuse their debt ridden currency of death.

End the Fed.

Here's my input, City-States. To hell with Nation-States. I don't see a need to reinvent the wheel. I'm against the modern nation-state and nationalism, both of which are relatively new on the scene. The peace of Westphalia and the French Revolution responsible for both. Nations are too centralized. The Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution is probably the most important of them all but has been null and void since 1865. Centralization is tyranny. Who contributed more to the uplifting of humanity, the city-states of Athens, Rome, and Venice, or all of the modern nation states combined?

A powerful government need every state ..He remove all anchcy....thanks sharing valuable post...

Sangat cantik

very nice post

I wish the government would take notes from the posts of the contest

Personally Liberterians need a stronger candidate than Gary Johnson, and I miss the old Ron Paul, who was the drive behind many of us youngsters movement, with End the Fed, with books like his The Revolution. The answer to your question is read as many books as possible about Austrian Economics, which would solve the central bank issue, Politicians should be held liable by the people, not only the court of law, when facts are presented in regards to all the misdeeds they have done, while in office. Best way to knock out propaganda is to have as many people visit many other countries that they dislike or hate their people. Most times we will learn as humans that we don't differ that much, aside to upbringing and religion. Figure a way out to take back the third world countries and create a free trade model without government intervention to get them back to their feet. Protect the middle class as much as possible and encourage them to support local, local government and keep the federal government small and use in absolute emergencies, take the power away from DC!

thank for your post. I do hope I see a libertarian I support win in my lifetime, but there is a long way to go! @aggroed

Matt from Chicago @salt2health

This is an intelligence-testing competition! I'm excited and I'm going to participate. Thanks for the opportunity.

Any form of government where a single person or entity gets to design it based on their own ideals seems like the last type of government I’d prefer :)

But honestly, I could probably live with the current American government if the we removed the ability to legally bribe leaders via campaign donations & lobbyists.

(Sorry, my thoughts aren’t fleshed out enough for an independent post.)

Interesting competition, one that can easily fetch good potential politiciains here.

thanks for share!

@ovyhossain Man it'd be awesome if you could get in touch with this dude again and see how he's doing. I'd love to see a follow up video. I really hope he's doing well. You can tell by his stone cold gaze that he's seen some horrific shit. In spite of all the trauma, he still has a very open mind and his heart is definitely in the right place.

what is the procedure?i want to participate. Its good information. I agree with your idea in this way we can earn more.
Thanks for sharing the the post that would help the steemit community.

Now the comments and replies to this ought to make for some good reading.
:-)
Freedom for all, sounds expensive considering how much it cost. Because it is not free.
;-) Can we build a flat Earth and put the politicians and Bankers there till the cats knock em off the edge? gif here...lol
:-) Namaste

Hello @aggroed can a Nigerian participate in this? You never mentioned what country or state is allowed to participate. Thank you.

Everyone can.

I don't have a whole post worth of stuff to say..so let me just say this.
people do better when they work together
Up to a point. Beyond a certain number people don't work together very well. Have you ever heard the saying "too many cheifs and not enough Indians"

well

I just don't think that should be coercive

here we go. If everyone would rather 'be a chief' then what's left if not coercion?

An interesting comment, but it is more profitable to start a new day every day ;)

Menurut saya, anda berjiwa sosialisme, orang orang seperti anda lah yang sepatutnya menjadi anggota pemerintah, tau tentang banyak hal.

I love the concept of switching Govs. I agree with you. I too believe people do better when we work together. A common cause indeed has a way of bringing people together. It would be nice to live in a country where its foundation was built around an idea of helping each others. However I am not referring to a communist community. I do not see that working out but this post is defiantly food for thought!

city councils only, that's it. hahahah

one part volunteerism one part libertarianism shake well and serve.

I'm really learning on every of your posts

I'm not sure if there would be such thing as "perfect form of government nor people" though we always have the power to choose to do what's right.

Incredibly comrade, this is a writing that speaks of perfect government. Actually this perfect government as you said was a friend, democracy, not anarchy, voluntary and so on. I just choose one of my friends, eg democracy. Democracy is often applied in the system of government, this is very good. Because with this democracy we can exchange ideas, can mutually suggest can support each other and can also pay attention to which voice of the little people who need our helping hand. Very good writing your friends. I am very happy to read your writing.

Great idea. This is something I have been thinking about a lot (years actually). I was planning on making a series of posts about how I think the Crypto Revolution might play out and what self-rule might ultimately look like. Probably won't fit your mould for participation though.

ur post is one of the post to whom aperson love to upvote and get u higher and higher as ur reavjing the peak in steemit love ur post great work keep it up!

Your idea sounds great. Free health care, free access to learning, civility. Some thought to fostering continued learning, especially in ethics, philosophy and politics. If we raise the bar in philosophy that will fertilize things nicely (if we can get past nihilism that is).

I really feel that any good you see around, and there is quite a lot of it, exists despite the government. Us humans are still an outside chance.

I'm seeing more and more people trying to lift others, that's why i think steemit will succede in general. Tnx for keeping minows active. Upvoted :)

you are great post share... l like your post.... Thanks for putting together this post and making it simple to understand. Fun watching this community boom!

"They put the ownership on us to come up with a better system rather than acknowledging that there's a lot that's totally....."
"Ownership" or Onus?
