My Introduction

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow steemit friends,

My name is Gene and I live in the northern hemisphere all the way up here in Alberta, Canada. Summer's are grand and the winter's are grander if you are into that sort of thing. It is a bonus when the other two seasons stick around so there is not such a shock going from hot to cold and vice-versa.

As my 'about' tag states, I love and enjoy my freedom, even though freedom in totality is never quite attainable in complete fullness. I make do with what I have because it could always be worse. I have been referred to as an 'Anarchist' based on my views and I can live with that because my definition of 'Anarchist' is nothing at all like the 'main stream' seems to portray now a days, I just don't agree with society as it now stands and some of the so called rules and laws that don't allow an individual to fully realize their potential or hinder their abilities to be who they want to be because some unknown is suddenly offended. I may be referred to as an 'Anarchist' however I still play in their sand-box.

I am often called 'old school' as well and I am very proud of that, although I think I am more or less becoming obsolete in today's day and age. Just don't call me obsolete, you will probably initiate some subtle vitriol followed by a lengthy debate as to why 'yesterday's knowledge' is more valuable than today's new-fangled tech stuff that I consider a dangerous fad. It is the reality of getting older, I guess, but my children love me very much for the knowledge and ethics I believe in, and really, that is all that matters to me.

I enjoy the conveniences of new tech today but not at the expense of my ability to remain anonymous and private if I choose to be. My kids and friends always chuckle when I tell them that I choose to be 'A smart person with a dumb phone'.

I love my wife and children immensely as well as the other members of my family, and there is nothing I would not do help them if they needed it.

I enjoy the out-doors although I don't get out as much as I would like to and I still like to go for a good romp on my motor-bike. Weather permitting, of course because the aches and pains seem to hit me just a little sooner now-a-days.

A little bit of a rebel streak and definitely contrarian in my views on a whole lot of things that the majority accept as a given, I like to think that the simple act of asking the question 'why' should get an intelligent answer instead of a beat-down either intellectually or some-times physically, but that's just me.

Anyway, if you are reading this little blurb about me I think you can pretty well figure out who I am and what I stand for. So I will leave this little intro at that, and see where this new venture on Steemit takes me because there is so much to talk about in today's ever changing environment we call society today.

Welcome gene.

Thanks coldsteem, I am not a veteran of any conflict however I did serve in the 2nd Bttln P.P.C.L.I. when Canada first introduced the Charter. Once a biker always a biker.

Great post! I see that you have been on steemit for some time now yet I'm feeling generous. Have an upvote and full steem ahead!
When having a new account it can be hard to recieve many upvotes so you should try out Steemfollower where you can earn up to 5x more steem than just upvoting by yourself! It's a simple and safe vote exchange that is free to use. I made this post to explain the system in more depth and it has become my most upvoted post yet.

I still don't know how all this up-voting works, I am still learning. I like the Steemit platform because I can express my views on a whole range of topics that I can sometimes be very passionate about. I have been a member of the Steemit community for a couple of months now however I just got started in doing some posts only yesterday, I have been side tracked with a bathroom renovation that took me a lot longer that anticipated. I am not really here to make money or enhance my wealth, I only view that as a benefit or bonus. I am here because I feel the community and the platform is a little more accepting of differences of opinion. I feel that this platform is more open-minded, so to speak. I thank you for your response and I will be following up on the info you provided. Now I need to get to work on another project I have been putting off for far too long.
