Just wear a helmet, moron. It's not that hard.

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

There's a reason we have these rules; it's because idiots don't know how quickly their life can be destroyed by one inattentive moment.

Source

Then they fall off their bike and bust their head wide open, living in hospital for months getting stitched back together on the taxpayer's dollar; or they're just outright killed.
No thought for those who have to pick their corpse off the road and inform their family.

We need to have laws like this because people are stupid.

Source

It's like the rules around monogamy. We outlawed intimacy outside of legally recognised relationships because if people were free to have sex with just anyone, there'd be STDs spreading rampant, costing the economy in productivity and straining the public purse.

You can't have it both ways, if you want to live in a society, that society gets a say in how you live.

This is why we banned surfing, skydiving, rock climbing, motocross and scuba diving.
We weighed the risk to the individual against the benefit to society.
The former was small, but the latter was zero, and they were banned accordingly.

You have an obligation to the rest of us to live your life as risk-free as possible, to remain a productive contributor for the group. An asset.
Any activity deemed unreasonably dangerous by the collective is rightly forbidden to the individual.
We didn't provide all that free education and healthcare while you were a child only to see you die or become defective just as you're getting useful.

Source

Remaining productive until retirement age is your legal and ethical responsibility.
You can't just do whatever you want with no thought to how the potential consequences will affect those who rely on you.
You were born into obligations, obligations you can't be trusted to respect, so we're forced to back them up with laws.
We shouldn't have to, but you should be grateful we do.
It keeps your friends and neighbours productive, helping pay for the enforcement apparatus which keeps us all safe.

You want to stay safe don't you?

Freedom? but you're not in prison. You're completely free. Just obey all of the rules all of the time and you'll remain free.

Source

So if you're stupid enough to ride your bike without a helmet and you see those flashing lights in your mirror, pull to the side of the road and quietly await further instruction.

Don't try to run and don't try to resist, or we'll bust your head wide open, pick your corpse off the road and inform your family.

Sort:

My Mom almost died a year ago because of this stupidity. She fell off her bike and hit her head. If the doctors didn't do surgery right away she would have been dead in a matter of an hour

Did freedom push her off?

I think it was ignorance, as always

You know when you come from a country where its the law to wear a helmet on a motorbike its a scary site when you are in one where none are worn. But then the first country makes it the law to wear a helmet on a push bike things start to go too far. So I can sure see your point.

Hmm, I was wondering where you were going with this. Supporting bike helmet laws (good idea or not) doesn't seem like something you'd be up for. But then you raise some good points as usual.

Also monogamy is the stupidest thing ever. Who wants to bang the same person for the entire life? Um, no one.

Umm, I do. It’s called self discipline. You can do it too. You just haven’t found the right person.

Pfft. Go flash a cricketer; hippy.

Hmm, there are none around. Panama is not a big cricket nation.

You had me going Matt. Then I thought you went a bit over board. Then it hit me, you’re starting your utopia. Can choo and I have our own beach?

No. Beaches are dangerous.
You can share a nice bench. It's only one letter different and much safer.

You have some nerve to even suggest cracking our heads open :P We're property, dude, what's the matter with ya? ;)
On a more serious note, I was a bit confused at first, but I really like where you went with this.

I’m all for people riding without helmets. But for them, my brother wouldn’t have been able to have a heart transplant eight years ago.

After reading some of these comments I realise you forgot to put the satire tag on. 😆

PS: here's my favourite bit:

Don't try to run and don't try to resist, or we'll bust your head wide open, pick your corpse off the road and inform your family.

You caught on pretty quick though I reckon.

I wear a helmet to bed.
Protected me from STDs 🐮

That's a cool prophylactic

I got home from work one day to find a guy my age collapsed on my doorstep, bleeding out from a gaping wound in his skull.

He was trying to hold it together with one hand while trying to find his phone to call an ambulance with the other, trying to remain conscious, having exhausted all his energy on dragging himself from the street, across my yard, and to my door, to try and get help.

19 year old me had to see that, and somehow keep it together to help keep him alive and get an ambulance out to rural Adelaide Hills.

I'm told he lived, but barely. If only he'd had his helmet on he'd have survived his crash with only some bruised ribs and a headache.

So I'm a supporter of helmet laws. If only to stop another kid having to help hold another guy's brains in.

Every terrible outcome could have been prevented with a reduction in freedom.
Banning cycling entirely would avoid all manner of tragedies.

I think we are not safe enough unless we are lying in such a pod. ;)

That is probably why they are banned from the highway.
Now that is something I could get behind, bicycles are death machines, you are twice as likely to die on a bike trip than a car trip. One difference between skydiving and surfing and not wearing a helmet on the highway is that if you kill yourself doing those things no one else really cares or is affected besides your loved ones but if you don't wear a helmet and then I paralyze you with my car on the roads we all agree to follow the rules of so that we can share them then its a huge problem for both of us that could have been only a very minor problem if you had worn your helmet, and then of course everyone's insurance rates go up. That said I like it when people don't wear helmets, more power to them, I believe in the right to kill yourself however you like but I sure would be pissed if the asshole decided to do it under my tires.

The reason we don't have paper money like the US is so we don't get paper cuts right?

That Helmet actually looks pretty nice :) i usually hate wearing helmets but if i found one that looked that good id wear it :P

Nutcase is a cool brand name, too :)

Phew! Whoa! A lot to digest in this one!! I might take my time and chew through it before I form my opinion! Very clever writing skillz Matt.

Another stance on that would be to let natural selection take its course. ;-)
I like your mildly rude language, it can be effective to wake people up.

Ha ha! THE RULES!
I recognize no authority or obligations of or to society. Society is a social construct and has no dominion within individual values. Any faction that considers it 'owns' social objectivity is being a collective jackazz.

You didn't pay enough attention at school; or you paid too much attention

This is simply not min/maxing taxes collections by being so restrictive while also reducing the future entitlement liabilities. While we know it’s bad for them and they know it’s bad for them. They are willing to pay insane amount of taxes on these things. On top of that since it could end there life sooner but not right away from a statistical standpoint they are still contributing to society. Least they are contributing to the point we start running the risk that they get to collect on entitlements of retirement. By then thankfully Darwinism would have settle those future liabilities that we did not have abilities to pay anyways at a discount. They will never know we where going cheat them out of it anyways.

Don’t wear a helmet so we can fine you $200 every time you are caught.

Atleast let me die in peace(without helmet)

True, there are some basic rules which really created for the safety of individuals and sometimes people ignore the rules and in my opinion sometimes they ignore it for silly reasons but these type of ignorance can lead towards major setbacks because there is an saying as if you do small things right then you can stay for great heights. So, everyone should follow the basic rules because if one individual suffers then the family around them also suffer to an great extent. Thanks for sharing this awareness spreading post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

I pondered...... why I can skate down a hill really fast with no helmet. Then my friend from England got a $300 fine when walking his bike and 3 year old son to check out the RBT. To get a $300 fine when you have a few kids, mortgage and only one parent currently working, do they really care about us ?? He has applied to contest the fine and I hope he gets let off. Nice twist to your post ;)

Public servant servants.
They work for their employers, and that isn't us.

We need a UBI - and let the blockchain take the jobs of everyone who works for Centrelink - should pay for the UBI.... Get rid of a layer of government. We have too many Barnabys.... I don't like the ATO either. Let the robots handle it, with a discount for doing your tax by ATO-BOT. Over-population an issue? Have a helmet amnesty ....

I think stacking silver and gold should be outlawed because if a 10oz bar falls on your foot you might be crippled and, because of it, not totally useful for the society.

Please deliver all your silver to my house; for disposal ;)

ideas so good, they need to be guaranteed by threat of death!

I read the blame game. Excellent pacing. Good use of memes to break up the text.
I'll have a read of the others soon.

Lol... next up: the Seat Belt!
Thank you for the comment upvote on holoz0r's post - I had to come and find one of your posts... unfortunately this is an expired post. But am following you now... ;)

Thanks, ackhoo.
And yes, I'd do away with seatbelt laws, given the chance. Of course the owner of the road might make them mandatory, but that's their call, not mine :)

Lol... I'm old enough to remember them making seat belts and helmets, mandatory by law... People probably had harder heads or/and slower vehicles before... :)

You really have an hilarious way of passing the truth. I wish many will read this and take responsibility for their safety.

Think positive and let the life do what God has planned for you!
I know sometimes you think bad, sad, but think postive and let the things correct automatically!

hahaha first one was funny: v the one in which you talked about halmet :v
it makes me laugh.

LOL...

Love the sarcasm!

Most open still don't know the that use of helmet is for their own safety, they feel they can ride anywhere without a safety guide. Same as motorist are required to use seat belt to keep them self just incase of any crash. Same loyalty is need in every relationship to avoid the spread of STD. I always try to stay safe and you all should. If you get pulled over, its for your own saftety, so obey

Every time & moment of life is very important

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

In my country polygamy is legalized, mostly because of religious teachings, and what happened then: too many unschooled kids cause one man has 7-12 children from 3 or 4 wives. How will he give them all a living?Totally agree with your post dear @mattclarke, especially for monogamy...

Poligamy is a cancer cell that will cause many other problems...

Anyway, very interesting post, thanks for sharing... ❤🤗😍

Thanks for your input, mate. It was a bit of satire, since we have no legal restrictions on sex between consenting adults here in Australia, and I'm sure many would take issue if it was to happen.

Yes i know, dear friend...
Did i take it so seriously? 😀🤗❤

Ignorance is the biggest factor here, we advice others to follow the laws but we often ignore them because we think we are too smart than others but life treats all equally and its just one blow can be so powerful that we may lose all it suddenly.

Free healthcare lol you clearly don't in America

That reminds me of a joke I saw scrawled on a shithouse wall at a power station. A place where only a rudimentary grasp of the English language was needed to function.

Why don't Harley riders wear helmets ?

Because you you can't get 200 pounds of shit to stay in an upturned bucket.

It happens in our subcontinet very frequently. People just don't want to follow the rules not even for tehir own safety. How could these people would be able to keep the country safe god knows!

Gifs are pretty great in this post :D

thanks for sharing .

Thank You! ⚜

LOL When I see people not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle I see someone who decided they have lived long enough, good for them.

Donorcycles.

I was reading yesterday about someone who got a penis transplant. I wonder if he got a bikers.

Communal kickstand.

probably better to have anyone's penis than none.

for a second I was like... whata... clever... I have one image to add to this conversation....

absolutely agree
most people are really so stupid and careless

and the most terrible thing is that it can harm other innocent people
we've so many of them on roads...
