Edward HoaglandAlthough, during the colder months, we let Abbey's hair grow a bit longer, we've never let it grow this long.
Our groomer was out of commission for a while so we tried to manage the matting and knots on our own. It didn't work out so well. She was terribly matted around the edges where the velcro from her sweater met. Poor Abbey had to be shaved. The fur came off like a sheep being sheared.
I love her adorable face but I do like her fur to be a bit longer.

Abbey a good girl! She will be cooler in the hot weather. I hope her hair grows before winter or she may need an extra thick sweater. :)

Oh ya....she has hair not fur so there is no under fur and she definitely needs a sweater and a coat in the winter.
We were at the vet yesterday and there was a white dog similar to your quite large and I heard her mention that she is a purebred so she won't shed.

Yup. Half golden retriever and half chocolate standard poodle. I think she has more poodle than golden but that's okay. She doesn't not shed, no. She's about 62 pounds. I forget how big she is until she cllimbs onto my lap. Snuggler that she is.

She is a goldendoodle :) A giant teddy bear who loves to hug.
I prefer the first photo as Abbey looks pretty normal. The second photo looks like something demented Warg from the Lord of the Rings lol

me too!! I like her looking like a sheep dog but her hair matts so easily and it's painful for her. I'll have to find a happy medium without working to comb through the dreadlocks. :)
The best/worst part about haircuts is that they grow back before you know it. Abbey always looks beautiful!
She does....but I really prefer a little chubby fur on her. She looks so emaciated now. I didn't take photos of her body bc she always lays down when I get the camera out. Funny dog. :)
Awwww! She can see again. She looks about ready for winter in Siberia in that first photo! It almost looks like two different pooches :-)
She was running and jumping like a lamb out of a stall when we got her home. I think she was in pain before with the knots pulling at her under arms and legs.

Yes, she's our pet @zamzamiali. She lives in our house with us and pretty much goes where we go except in the car - she gets car sick.
She's spoiled , he can not be rich because he can not ride a car. Hehehe..
What a beautiful dog, too bad you had to shave her, but luckily it will grow back quickly! Plus, she'll be cooler this summer! Dogs are so wonderful, they love you unconditionally and you're right, they bring out the child in all of us. We miss our sweet dog, she was such a family member.
I can't wait for it to grow out a bit. She's like a stick dog!! lol. I'll still keep it short for the summer but not shaved like this.
It's tough losing a dog. They don't nearly live long enough. I think she'll be our last one though - I can't imagine having a puppy again and going through the first year or two of training!! Abbey just turned 3 this year and is so well behaved....like the perfect dog.

I like it when she looks like a teddy bear too. She is a golden doodle. Her mom is a golden retriever and her dad is a chocolate standard poodle. So she gets the best of both breeds - altho she acts like a goofy poodle and is super smart but she's also chill like a retriever. Best dog ever. And she does not shed at all.

but please don't tell my family. they'll have it in writing and that will be the end of it. i need one of these though LOL i can't take another dog that sheds. ugh. they are stinky when you wash them lol
