Do you remember the delusions of your youth?

in #anime6 years ago

Do you remember when you were younger, when your imagination ran away with you? Did you have any delusions? Maybe you barely remember them. You were in middle school and you had these ideas of crazy things that part of you knew weren't real, but part of you wanted to believe in.

That's Chunibyo. The delusions of youth. Some fantasy in your mind that you can cast magic and are a great sorcerer, or have some secret power.

I'd like to introduce you to the story of two kids that have such delusions and the love that grows between them.

"Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions" is one of the best animes of the last 10 years. It's the story of Yūta Togashi, a boy who suffered from "chunibyo", trying to escape his past in a new high school, and a girl, Rikka Takanashi, who is still all but lost in her delusions, and their high school life. You're taken along as every moment Yuta tries to forget his embarrassment and Rikka tries to pull him into her own delusions.

But in that journey is so much more.

We forget about the delusions of youth.

Rikka reminds Yuta of the fun in those youthful delusions though. She shows him that there's nothing wrong with believing in whatever you want to believe in and finding your own truth in life.

Maybe they are just a girl that can't accept the loss of a loved one and a boy that can't accept that he didn't always fit in, but together they find themselves in each other and the delusions of youth.

There's something about animes that take you through the journeys of youth. We get to remember the things in our past and escape our lives into a world that's not so far off. Just a few years past and a few thousand miles away. Friendships and fights over stupid things. The heavy beat of one's heart as you hold your love's hand. The silly beliefs that don't even make sense.

If you don't find yourself trying to hold back tears and rooting for Yuta and Rikka's love, you have no heart.

Definitely one of the best animes of this generation. Maybe not Grave of the Fireflies good, but you won't be weeping in a ball in the corner at the end, never wanting to see it again. This one you'll want to see more than once.

It is fine but the second season is boring though.

The first is definitely the best. The second season is more like a sequel...and we all know what sequels are like.

I really think they could have done more with that season.

Tyrant eye and Dark Flame Masta...

I’ll have to look into it now. I’m watching Black Clover, been looking for other stuff to.
