The fractured mind...when one part of your mind understands the impact of what is going on and another part of the mind wonders if it's just a bad dream...
Hello to all of you who have followed me here to Hive from Steem!
It's been a hell of a journey these past few weeks, both in the crypto sphere and in the real world. The hostile takeover of the steem chain, and the plague pandemic that is currently ravaging most of the countries of this world.
My anxiety, formerly well under control, has come back to accompany me in my daily life once again. I find my mind wandering off into that familiar dark place, and I have to talk myself back out of that darkness. I have found that I do have some good weapons with which to fight this mind altering condition, but it still sneaks up on me on an almost daily basis. Depression is another thing I have been having to deal with, but that seems to be more controllable than in the past, strangely enough.
I think I am about as prepared as a person can expected to be for the next few months with the pandemic. I'm a homesteader, so I don't lack for food and other assorted things. I could see this thing coming to the U.S. back at the end of January, so I started buying some of the things that I thought would be necessary at that time. We normally buy our toilet paper in a 3 month supply, so we did that plus a bit more back at the beginning of February when everyone around me was still laughing at the thought of it affecting our local area. There were other things, such as N-95 masks that I watched slowly disappear from the local shelves until they were suddenly gone. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Now all the local bars and restaurants are closed, along with schools and bank lobbies. The drive through is now the only way to do your banking tasks. Most of this doesn't affect me directly, because I rarely go anywhere anyway. The hermit life prepares a person for times like this.
As for steem, I haven't posted there in more than a week, and probably won't post there anymore. I lost interest in the platform after the hostile takeover. I undelegated most of my delegations a bit more than a week ago and started a powerdown of most of my steem power. Now that I know that I will be trying to continue on here on hive, I will be undelegating everything and restarting my powerdown for all of my SP. My plan is to exchange my steem for litecoin until such time as hive coin becomes available.
I hope to continue writing posts on this new, but familiar blockchain, and hope that I can do at least as well as I was doing on steem. With a bit of luck, curation will be a bit stronger here on hive. I'm going to miss my upvotes from steembasicincome, they were important to the growth of my account. Hopefully they will move to hive and duplicate their system here. If not, I guess I'll just have to live with that. Now that hive is active, I'm going to have to get back into the mind space of writing posts on a regular basis again. I will also be making an effort to do more curating than I had been doing over the previous month or 2.
We are all living through an extraordinary time right now, unequalled in our lifetime. Extraordinarily difficult, but also with extraordinary possibilities for change. May those changes be for the better!
Stay safe and healthy, my friends!
I'm sure there will be a some bumps in the road as we change over. It looks like SBI will join us at some point, but Joseph has some kinks to work out. Looks like he'll have it on both chains.
Everything has been going crazy lately. I hear you on the anxiety! Its going to be a show process for me changing everything over to Hive as real world things are taking a lot of my attention too.
Yeah, I certainly can understand that.
I find my mind wandering off into that familiar dark place, and I have to talk myself back out of that darkness
That has happened to me too lately. Its something I thought I had left behind. I'm gonna do daily meditation to keep it in check
If meditation is something that works for you, I think it's well worth the effort to do it.
I didnt see any sbi accounts on the airdrop blacklist. That means that they should have plenty of voting power on hive, too. Hope it wont take them too long to start using it for the good of the donors.
That certainly would be helpful for a lot of us with SBI shares.
i just posted on hive and received my minute sbi payout.
Cool! That's good to know!
