lol, looked like you guys were having a blast. How many years has this been going on?
Way back in the day the guys around here would pull together a quake tourney, which looked a lot like you guys, it would get down to the last two teams and everybody would just crowd around the screens and watch everyone going at it. We usually played a capture the flag mod. It was our idea of a money game, but it was winner take all, which was usually 40 or 50 bucks, as we were all broke because we spent all of our money on our PC's...
I do love the way you put the post together it brought back memories and made me laugh, I was never the "fatter version of me" I was always the toothpick skinny nerd...

We've been organizing these parties or meetings for more than 3 years if I recall correctly! And hey, thank you for taking the time to read and actually comment about your experience! I was not around when Quake came out but I do get the feeling of what you're trying to describe!
Also yeah, I was the fat guy of the group, lol.
It's one of the disturbing things about getting old, realizing that adults are young enough to be your kids...
Just think counterstrike, or call of duty, or team fortress. and go back 20+ years of graphics and controls.....
I think Quake was the first true over the internet multiplayer FPS. There are still some people who play it today....
These games reek longevity! But I guess it speaks about how detailed they were made for their time and how great a fanbase of players can be. How many people still play Diablo 2 instead of 3 and many more examples like that? Old School Runescape too!
Now Runescape, there's one for an awesome post.
I think part of the beauty of quake was they would let you mod the levels and skin your player. I played as fred flintstone quite a bit.... lol. You could mod on elder scrolls as well, at least in mirrowind (last one I played)
Wow I didn't know that! I guess modding really was there when old games were booming as well!
lol, yes I think Quake was the first game where you could actually host them over the internet. Doom just before it you had to be on the same physical LAN. Nerds have pretty much hacked and modded since computers first started.
