Hello sweet Lovelies !
announcement post hereToday I'm gonna show you the painting I have made on the theme "SAILOR" for @agneslaczo ART CONTEST #7.
Frankly, when I read the theme was sailor, I thought "Now what ..?
I'm not so used to draw human character, I draw creatures, fancy animals, and yes, sometimes dreamy girls, but a man...? I think I have never draw one =D
So my first reaction was to think to draw a BlueWonkieSailor, but BlueWonkies are only coming when they feel it is their turn and here apparently, was not their willingness ;-)
Why I decided to get out of my ususal playing field, because I felt attracted to surprise myself,
like I did with the Grandma's Bird or with the Elf boot,
(now I understand why I love to participate to her challenges, even if not ALL THE TIME, but when I feel attracted by challenging myself with a theme ...)
which are BTW two challenges of @agneslaczo
Well, without further ado, here is the painting I end up with :
Aujourd'hui, je vais vous montrer le tableau que j'ai peint sur le thème "UN MARIN" pour le concours d'art # 7 d' @agneslaczo.
Franchement, après avoir découvert le thème, j'ai pensé "Et Maintenant, quoi ...?"
Je ne suis pas habitué à dessiner des personnages humains, je dessine des créatures, des animaux fantaisistes, et oui, parfois des filles rêveuses, mais un homme ... Je pense que je n'en ai jamais dessiné un = D
Donc ma première réaction a été de penser à dessiner un Marin BlueWonkie, mais les BlueWonkies ne viennent que quand ils sentent que c'est leur tour et ici apparemment, ce n'était pas leur volonté.. ;-)
C'est là que j'ai décidé de sortir de mon terrain de jeu habituel, parce que 'ai eu envie de me surprendre, comme je l'ai fait avec GrandMaman et l'oiseau ou avec la botte Elfe, qui sont d'ailleurs deux défis lancés par @agneslaczo ^_^
(A présent je comprends pourquoi j'aime participer à ses challenges, même si je n'y prends pas part à chaque fois mais uniquement lorsque je me sens attiré par me challenger avec un thème ...)

and here is the background on which I painted the sailor
this one, as those who follow my different tutorials know it, is a mix of painting with the water-soluble chalks Neocolor II, collages of various papers (pages of books) and stamps ...
A complete tutorial will be the object of a later post for those interested ;-)

celui ci, comme le savent ceux qui suivent mes différents tutos, est un mix de peinture avec les craies hydrosolubles Neocolor II, de collages de papiers divers (pages de livres) et de tampons... Un tutoriel complet fera l'objet d'un post ultérieur pour ceux qu cela intéresse ;-)

No I do not find enough clues :-) When you make your background you first stick things on it and then you make a picture, print it of and that you use as your background for your sailor?
Sorry I thought that tells it all ;-) Because this is exactly that : I paint colors and glue papers and stamps or draw patterns, that's my first step of background creation
And then, ON THAT BACKGROUND, I draw the character...I don't print anything, why Would I, while it is already existing and ready to be used ? ;-)

stupid question but is chalk not always water soluble? Neocolor II something special? Now i will read the link so maybe I ask without reading if the answer maybe is in your text. Thank you very much!
I don't think chalks are always water-soluble, not that way, but maybe it is only a confusion of terms due to the language, in fact here is what is writen on the NEOCOLOR II : water-soluble wax pastel
they are not that special, as you can do the same with watercolor pencils, but in fact, they have more pigments, I would say, and then the color is more bright and rich and have a density that is not the aim with the classic watersoluble pencils... =)

The background usually gives me the ton, the direction for the rest of the painting...I love to create them ;-)
