I used to draw so many cats.
God, did I draw cats.
This isn't even a a fraction of the cats I've drawn and painted over the years.
When I was super young I drew horses. Tons of horses. I wanted a horse. I had cats. Once I got to the point in life where I realized the horse was not going to happen and it wasn't that big of a deal, it was cats cats cats cats.
All of these sketches are from high school. Mostly 9-11th grade. My senior year I moved and my art teacher at the new high school was an anti-Semitic prick with a lower-case p, so I wound up taking ceramics.
I was not very good at ceramics.
Nor very interested.
I preferred the 2-D.
This piece won either second or third place in the high school art show my junior year. I had a great art teacher, at that high school. I've tried finding him on the socials recently to reach out but no luck. There are just way too many Bob Davises in San Diego.
I used to sketch a lot with colored pencil and oil pastel, too.
Here's an acrylic painting I made in my early twenties. It's all beat to shit because I used to keep it on display right next to where my cats ate. They were slobs. They were happy.
