Jumping Spider ~ Art by Red Dust

Male Habronattus virgulatus Jumping Spider

I need to start working in prisma-colored pencils, I love the detail the medium catches with micro-photography and insects. I'm definitely going to draw more jumping spiders.

I collected bugs as a child, I was fearless and no one ever bit me. I also loved snakes, I used to collect Garter Snakes, a Harmless snake from the West Coast of Oregon.

I hope I caught the beauty I see so you can see the intelligence and personality in this tiny little spiders. They are about 2mm long, something like 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch long.

11 x 14, drawing pencil, Prisma-colored pencil.

Hey reddust. I love your work it is fascinating. However I do not like spiders haha. I am a big boy and when I was little I letted them walk over my hands but no more... well done

brilliant piece of work :)

I love it too @jeffjagoe, thank you <3

I have a phobia of spiders and this drawing sends shivers down my neck, but it is also beautiful! 💡

@fleur just look at the elegance and beauty of their form and your fear will eventually go away. See the beauty and let your fear go!

Wow it looks so real! I love it!

I like to try and capture the real in an image. Right now I am trying to let that go with my butterfly series.

oolala, nice!

Another one of my favorites by you, the detail is immense! love it.

@jonjon1, yeah, it's all about the details. That's why I love and hate doing cars...it's so hard. the spider was very easy, Nature is so elegant with her designs.

I tried to draw cars when i was a kid but was terrible at proportions and angles lol. Very true, the older i get, the more detail and elegance i see everywhere in nature.

Wow! J'adore ton dessin!

Wow! I love your drawing! This spider is beautiful and fascinating! My children and I collect the insects and we are disappointed not to be able to collect the spiders since it does not keep their shape and color while drying ... but your drawing made me think that we could take photos of them instead !!!! It's a little ridiculous but I never thought of it before today !! :-) Thanks for this inspiring and beautiful sharing !!!

Yeah, spiders you will have to inject rubber or something in their bodies so their exoskeleton won't collapse after their internal fluids dry up....That was my first thought anyway, I don't know what you would use though...kind like the rubber they inject in the frogs I had to dissect in my high school labs.

It is nicer to take photos...I love micro-photographs, love, love, love them. Thank you @nature.sauvage.

That's great! I love jumpers!

@tarotbyfergus, me too, those little eyes hold an intelligence that feels very aware of me ...

Very cool original creation.

Thank you @woodywood143, I'm copying the master artist...Nature!

@reddust, really nice drawing.

What struck me as interesting was that looking at your drawing makes me imagine some strange creature from another planet... as a photo, I "know" it's a spider, but in the transition to drawing... it feels more like I am looking at the cover art of a science fiction book; the spider somehow becomes more "alien" looking. Don't know if that makes sense...

Either way, a great drawing!

Alien is right, these little creatures are mad smart little hunters. We humans have been taught we are the smartest creatures on this planet. However bugs are living space suits with their exoskeleton, their strength and their ability to adapt to a changing environment. Can you imagine how big a rain drop is to a little 1/4 inch spider? When I was a kid I like to imagine what I would do if I was caught in a rainstorm if I was as small as the little bugs I loved to watch. They live in a very different world than we do....just imagine ;-)

spidi man <3

Yes, he is @anejosua...lolol

ah arghh mom @reddust

hahaha iam harrypotter

I have this photo....watch out, a spiders going to eat you... ;-) lolol

ahh iam so scaredd

:p :p

Ahh spiders are so creppy :D But well done on the painting :)

I find spiders less creepy than many humans I've had to live and work with :P hahaha Thank you @trendo

That's very deep... But I get where you're coming from :D

nice painted picture

Thank you @skrzypietz

buena pintura

Oh what a pretty little spider. I really hope it won't eat me alive!

These little warriors will eat bugs that like to eat you ;) thank you @yaan

So cool , great job!!

Thank you @halo, I need to get to work and draw some more spiders!

Salticidae are my favourite arachnid family! so much diversity in appearance and behaviour. we get some amazing varieties here in Australia . Awesome Art !. Upped.

Someone else who loves spiders! I hear Australia has huge scary spiders and snakes. I'd prolly get bitten exploring your continents awesome flora and fauna! Thank you @pressurepointau

You are welcome @reddust !. spider lovers are a rarer lot! I would love to collect Tarantula at some stage. after spending a lot of time in the far north of our country i came to love most of what is here (i can't abide mosquitoes). Exploring was one of my greatest pleasures when i was younger. some of the spiders and insects i saw , i have never seen again and had not seen them before. Hell of a lot of diversity (there is that word again) up in the tropics.

Almost certainly. i have been bitten a number of times. usually in my sleep. there are indeed some large and aggressive spiders here, However like most spiders they are for the most part more scared of you then you are of them.

I love lizards and frogs as well, I don't understand why people are scared of nature when the human built world is far scarier and meaner...now I want to come and visit!

I couldn't agree more! the thing is being prepared for nature and possible nasty consequences and then remaining calm if something does go wrong, doing the right thing and surviving. panic is the real killer.

It is well worth it. the northeastern coast and even the southern cold rain forests are amazing for "creepy-crawlies".

Snakes and lizards are awesome too, I mean we have the Taipan in all its variations and it can be aggressive and deadly again preparation and awareness is the key.

most of the lizards including the Monitor can be nasty if provoked or frightened..But again if you go calm and don't act like prey its usually pretty good. Being aware of the local environment and social factors is key (ie, is someone feeding them and creating habituation for them to expect food from humans).

hahaha now you are making me want to explore again!

OMG...me too, it's getting close to me taking off as soon as my daughter is ready for me to go...hopefully next year. I've been staying with her, helping out during a difficult custody battle, she has two kids. As soon as everyone is stable, I'm taking my steemit funds and traveling the world!

I have seen friends go through the custody battle experience before. its never fun for anyone. I think when all is said and done Travel will be just the medicine you need. I know after working for the Corporation i have just been working for and being trapped in cities for the last few years that nature is exactly what i am in need of!. Steemit seems like the perfect way to raise those extra funds. i could definitely go to South America again. it was absolutely stunning.

A paint with too much details, I don't like spiders but the paintings it's well made sincerely

Open your heart, all this little guy needs is some love...lolol Thank you @dim753

Jumping spiders are harmless, they are the most intelligent spider out of all the spider tribes.

Interesting reddust but i had bad experiences with some big spiders :(

I've had really bad experiences with humans, but I still like you lolololol <3

jajajajajajaja

Very amazing piece of art. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you @melowd, I love spiders that eat obnoxious bugs!

Spiders are beautiful, but my 6 years old son really scared of them.

I think the extreme fear response is healthy, many spiders and snakes are deathly poisonous. As a child I had no fear of nature, humans scared the crap out of me...hahaha

I hope your son can see the beauty in these creatures and let go of some of his fears.

This one came out great, thank you for sharing this! :)

Because I am still learning new methods and drawing subjects my art hasn't been very consistent. But I know my prisma colored pencils and I've been watching spiders since I was a kid. Thank you @tyrael1979

I know this type of spider and it is really lifelike, quality speaks for itself :)

That's very nice! Thanks for sharing!

@giftedgaia, thank you kindly.

Beautiful colours and detail @reddust! Lovely looking wee thing but still gives me the shivers! :)

Hope everything is well!

@tonyr, every thing is going well, I've been a little short-tempered over some stuff going on with steemit, but I worked through it this morning...Just look at the detail and see the beauty, breath through the shivers, they'll go away...

I've been a little uncomfortable with a few things that have been going on lately here myself @reddust! There's a bit of a bad smell in the air right now. Hopefully things can improve soon! :)

I had to catch a spider only yesterday morning and help him find his way back outside! :) I say him because I have been reliably informed that when you see a spider in your home crawling around it is most likely a male who has grown impatient with waiting for a 'girlfriend' so decides in desperation to seek one out. Not sure if this is true but it makes me sound as if I know what I am talking about! :)

Spiders in the house usually mean food is in your house too...bugs!

Anyways, what is going on with the whale fights and minnows fighting over scraps of food left over from the whale and dolphin feeding frenzy this last uptick, reminds me of the world I live in right now. I want to hid under some coral like I'm a minnow but now I am a dolphin so I need to step up my game. I just don't know exactly what to do that will be helpful when there is a feeding frenzy going on.

So after I got over my temper this morning, which usually leaves me drained, I'll do what I've always done. Clean house, cook, paint, work my garden here in Steemit. I'll make a nice little place where extremes can't live.

There is no TOS for newbies regarding manners and NO group with enough power to help sort out whale issues. These heavy accounts can do a lot of damage when they get out-of-sorts.

I am writing down my insights and wtf is going on and keeping them to myself for now. I am much better and controlling my temper now, age is a blessing in many ways.

It's definitely not nice and I've had a few things to say myself on the matter as well as resteeming a few posts on the subject from the likes of @dwinblood and @stellabelle who both had interesting things to say.

I have no intention of telling others how they should act but if they are acting in a way that is detrimental to other users and to the platform and it's reputation then I don't see any problem in highlighting this behaviour for others to see so that they can make their own decision as to whether they would like to support that user in future. @ethical-ai has started posting examples of those abusing the system and I think @aggroed is doing the same.

Perhaps something along these lines might have the desired effect! :)

You're steemit garden is always beautifully maintained @reddust!

Very cool. The eyes and head really pop.

I picked this species because of the blue and orange markings are so complementary, thank you @lilrut.

Amazing work.

Thank you🌀

Pretty spider, great art!

Jumping spiders are beautiful, while other spiders are just kind of dull....this guys like to dress up!

arachinidae, brings back my Entomology days :) Nice!

Beautiful!!
I once had one of these on my work desp that cponstantly tried to attack himself in his reflection from a silver photo frame that was standing on my desk. It was hilarious!

Seriously! I'd loved to have caught the dance on a micro video camera!

You would have it was hilarious

so beautifuly painted the pic of spider although its so dangrous for humans but the painting is so beautiful and such an art you have in your hand

These little spiders are harmless to humans but fearless intelligent hunters of bugs. They are very beneficial, eating up bugs!

ahan i got that now thanks for more info about these spiders

Nice, furry jumping spider :)

Oh I just love this...jumping spiders are my absolute favourites...I used to try to train them as a child. Have you seen those wonderful peacock jumping spiders you get in Australia....would make lovely subjects for your stunning art.

Spiders irk me, but this picture is great!

Woow, beautiful jumping spider
