Old films often inspire me to paint. A piece from 2014.

I painted this particular piece from one of my favorite movies,
Les Yeux Sans Visage (1960) directed by Georges Franju.

This piece was completed for a horror film themed show called
Gods and Monsters VI: The Inhuman Hunger at The Abstracted Gallery in Northeast Minneapolis, 10/24/14

(Chub-faced bub forever.)

Even more striking is the video edit someone did of this film paired with one of my favorite songs:

Portishead- Hunter

(I do not own this video edit.)

Please check it out when you have the time. The visuals for this film were heart-achingly beautiful.
Thank you!

One of my favorite activities is trying to pair creepy albums to the silent horror era.

I've always had a thing for the black and white film era. Something about it seems so much more authentic. I love the concept of painting it! You're really talented :)

GOSH. Thank you so much! ;___; I feel the same way about old films. They relied heavily on atmosphere, dialogue, and music more than they did sound effects and I fucking loved that. If you ever care to check it out, the best pairing my friends and I have ever done is Wisconsin Death Trip with Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children. It is mind-blowing how perfect they are together. BOC sampled a lot of creepy children's voices for it.

Also, one of my dj friends played Lindstrøm over Dario Argento's Profondo Rosso. Creepy, but sexy!

Awesome!! I'll have to check it out, thanks!

Your art is exquisite... And that movie, wow thank you for sharing your inspiration. Whoever did the edit congratulations on a great at it. That movie looks like something interesting to watch. You are a wonderful artist!

So very kind of you! I really appreciate it! The film is not so much scary for its time, it was more the shock value of simulating a surgery. :) Thank you!
