There are many ways to get noticed here on Steemit and one thing some people tend to forget is that this is an attention economy.
Grabbing the attention of those that read your posts and even the ones that don't and just use auto-upvote bots is part of what will help find some success on Steemit. There are so many factors that can go into getting other's attention.
Sure we see those post that some of us consider "shit posts" that doesn't seem to show much time and effort was put into the post and gets a large reward or even those that only upvote their own posts and comments. We can complain about all of this but at the end of the day it comes down to "1 stake, 1vote". Meaning a person has the right to use their stake and their vote how they please.
The thing with this is that long-term, people that lack the effort in their content creation or self-votes is hurting themselves and preventing to reach their full potential on this platform. Usually, those that do these types of strategies don't last long. Either they don't get enough support from others or rewards become too small for them for the amount of work they do and they end up leaving or changing their ways. In many ways, a Steem user is building a "brand" and if that's what someone becomes known for, the support will eventually go to those that create quality content and bring value to the platform.
Here are some suggestions that could help grab the attention of readers.
Invest in STEEM
When you power up, you have more influence on the platform and have more say on where the rewards get distributed.
The thing about Steem is that you are able to see how much an account has invested and users tend to support those that have larger amounts invested because it shows support for the platform. Also, others will want support from those accounts with large stake because they will earn more rewards by getting upvotes from them. So you will see users upvote a post from an account with a large stake in hopes of getting a upvote on their post in return.
Engagement
When it comes to engaging others, it's more than just saying hi and sharing your link. You actually want to build a relationship with others on the platform and have conversations. Let other's know what you're about and what kind of person you are.
Be active in communities and projects to help you get noticed more on the platform while at the same time, you will be helping communities and projects grow.
Creative Original Content
I have said that many times but there are always new users that aren't aware. Creating original content tends to get rewarded more. Having something creative and original has a better chance of grabbing the attention of readers.
Content that helps onboard new users and brings some sort of value to the overall growth of the platform is of course in everyone's best interest to support.
Helping Others
It pays to help others on this platform. Helping other's find success can lead to them supporting others and earning or investing and having a larger stake. Eventually, it will come back to you in some form or another through upvotes or a project that could help you and your followers.

I think we all in some way do
Hi @bitcoinparadise check, check, check, and check. I actually find myself even looking at comments and replies to see if I want to go to someone's blog because I really want my microcosm of Steem to be filled with inspired, engaged and encouraging people with hopes and dreams who care about other people. Wonderful post! I'm helping new people get started so this is perfect for them to read. Resteeming of course!
Thank you. I'm just here to help :)
I appreciate the shout out on your recent post.
Of course! And, your last post was awesome. I absolutely love the creativity and community aspect of Steem. What I need to work on next is being more consistent with my posts. I actually have lots of ideas for future posts started, it's just getting it all together and pressing submit. :) It's all a learning process for sure! Hope you have a good night (or day)! LOL
Engagement will surely build up your presence.
Without a doubt, it will. Thanks for the comment :)
Totally agree! I did't pretty much the same and in a couple of weeks I went to level 50 and have around 130 followers. Maybe the number is not that big, but they are active followers, from blockchain niche, which is my main niche I'm trying to write about.
It helped a lot that I powered up to almost 8500 and if Poloniex wouldn't hijack my 2500 steem coins, I would be able to power up to amost 11000.
Yes, it definitely helps a lot. Can't forget that money is involved and people tend to follow the money.
Polo is baby sitting your STEEM too huh? I had to wait over a month to get my funds from them.
I read recently all kind of complaints about them, on steemit, but I didn't think they are that bad. I had good enough experience with them.
I managed to withdraw some but last week I got 2500 steem blocked there. I wrote one post one week, yesterday another one, and I'm going to to do it on weekly bases to warn people until they fix the issue. I understand sometimes they have to do it, but doing it for weeks is totally not acceptable.
Today I just published my post celebrating my reputation getting to 50. I mentioned your post there along with my lesson learned, as this is practically my success recipe.
Really great post! Very informative and concise. Thank you for taking the time to write this. Upvoting and following!
Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind comment.
better get my pencil and notepad out a and get after it
Awesome post man! Its been very rewarding watching what I have seen of your journey into steemfame! :D We are all so blessed on Steemit! I just made a post very similar but from a more philosophical stand point! Check it out if you are interested!
Upvoted and Resteemed
Nice thanks! That was a great post man. Resteemed as well :)
Great post! I'm passing this one on to friends!!
Thanks!
Thank you for the advice @bitcoinparadise! I am still new to this network, and would love to express my interests to a larger audience :D.
It can take some time depending on your strategy but just keep at it and you'll get your larger audience ;)
My wifes a whale dose this mean i get more up votes ?
Not if she hates you :P
These are great tips! its only been a couple weeks i've used steemit, but it seems to be like "high school." All the seniors "core" have all the money/power and noobies are like freshman. I look forward too seeing what this platform has to offer in the future. Thank you @bitcoinparadise
Oh wait til you see whats going to happen in the near future. I'll let you know in my next post ;)
all valid points :)
the psychology behind "voting for big stakes accounts to be noticed" is particularly interesting, because it doesn't really bring much in the long run, just a waste of voting power :)
Why wouldn't it? Some large stake holders look to see who's voting and supporting their content. At the same time, you earn curation rewards from voting on their post. So I don't see where it's a waste of voting power and bring much in the long run...
yes, it is very valid, until a point when you can't look through all the people who have voted for you. and in the long run, it doesn't bring much.
on the other hand, engaging in a conversation or creating something, or even looking for undervalued new posts can bring much more even in curation rewards :)
I disagree. I've been here long enough to see how the system works only 25% of what a post makes get distributed to curators. So if an undervalued post makes less than a dollar you don't earn much curation.
While you don't earn much. I find it better to add value than to chase after whale votes. But ohh well; that is my preference. There are multiple tricks /technisues to apply to increase your posting and curation rewards, some of which you have stated.
I am not saying to chase whales, I was pointing out to become one by investing and others tend to chase.
I know this is not what you are implying. Nevetheless, good article!
the thing is steemit is changing, more and more users are joining in. it's hard to say if they are going to stay active or not. but good posts and the work you put in creating them are going to stay even if money dries out.
Good content and effort with presentation. Reference "investing in steem"; the relevant advantage to your article is that it increases exposure to your post, if you were to do an auto-upvote for example. The higher the reward of your post, the higher up it is ranked in particular section. I'll auto-upvote your content using the msp-bot in 12hrs. Remind me by responding.
Still even your post is worth a million dollars and you are a newbie people won't trust in you and the post will be lacked by upvotes. so reputation thing comes in handy, spend your worthy time on steemit to earn those cryptocurrency :)
Thanks for posting btw
The reputation is not much of a use. All someone needs is an upvote from a few whales and their reputation can jump from 25 to 50 in a day.
Hard to find whales though :P
it's actually easy, just hard to get a vote from them.
One at the same thing, we both are looking the same picture from two different angles lol
Not really, you said:
I said:
That's different.
It would be the same if you said: "Hard to get an upvote from whales though."
everything takes time :) steemit is still an SNS, so the best thing is to forget about money, write about things that interest you and move you and interact with people who are interested in the same things as you. It's essentially about making new friends.
What is an SNS? Well, this is a blockchain and uses STEEM and accounts hold stake. There is a misconception that this being a social media platform and it is also stake driven. The governance model is Delegated Proof Of Stake. Yes, the social part is about making friends but it is still also about the money.
SNS= social network site. Engagement and making friends is networking, which usually is a very important ingredient in money making and business building :)
Thank
