RE: How will the US Presidential Elections impact crypto?

in #beauty8 months ago

I know that RFKjr (Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.) is pro-cryptocurrency. On this particular topic, I haven't heard anything to the contrary.

The leading Democrat candidate for POTUS, Joe Biden, is either neutral or anti-crypto. If anything, he is in favor of USD as CBDC. Combine this with his administration's energy policies, and he would be a disaster for anyone holding cryptocurrency.

Meanwhile, the leading Republican candidate for POTUS-- Donald Trump-- has evolved over the years. Before he was a candidate in 2016, he was a no-coiner. During his term as 45th President, he had been critical of cryptocurrency in general, but he was no longer a no-coiner; even as a skeptic, he was against the CBDC in principle. Since he left office in January 2021, he seemed to have come around to pro-cryptocurrency positions:

  • Melania Trump minted a series of NFTs on Solana blockchain;
  • Don, Jr. is an unabashed fan of cryptocurrency. His other son with Ivana Trump, Eric, seems to be pro-cryptocurrency, but I don't know that for certain.
  • DJT himself has already minted multiple series of NFTs, including the recent series featuring golden basketball sneakers. He wouldn't have bothered with either had he maintained his earlier positions. It's possible that he was influenced both by wife Melania and eldest son Don, Jr.

Technically there are other candidates for POTUS this year. However, I hadn't heard anything about their positions pro- or anti-cryptocurrency.

From what I know, RFKjr is a solid yes, DJT is a yes, and Joe Biden is neutral to a no.
