I would recommend listening to the following interview! What is politics? Politics is a business. And politicians are like c.e.o's (chief executive officer). People are profitable business. So its easy to see that politics and finances go hand in hand.
You might look at me and say 'so what the guy is passionate about economic policies'...let me explain why. A friend and myself sometimes discuss deeper issues, and he said something one day that pleasantly surprised me. He said that correct economic policy is a Biblical discipline.
https://tifwe.org/why-economics-is-not-a-worldly-discipline/
So in short, I am not just a capitalist because I think that it is fair...rather I am a capitalist because I have studied the unchanging principals of GOD's WORD and believe me when I say that 'fallen mankind is not designed to operate outside of a free market system'.
Thats all- therefore I have 110% confidence that communism, socialism, and any form of marxism will not work. What many people see in the American economy today is called 'crony capitalism' (its like putting lipstick on a pig and saying its a beautiful woman, the pig might fool some people at first but the truth will come out and when it does...then something will happen!)
Oh I will take my morning coffee and sit to look this interview. I am deeply interested in economics too.
I think the main reason why socialists can attract so many people is because of the ignorance of the masses. When I knew nothing about the nature of economic interactions, I believed almost every word told by the socialists in my country. It's just lack of understanding, lack of culture. We need a slow pace that enables a deeper thinking, researching, feeling.
Capitalism is not a system of "perfection", but no human system could be that. Real capitalism at least gives us power to decide our own ways. Freedom doesn't mean perfection, but that's the best we can have in our societies full of oppressive intentions and corrupted people.
Thanks friend !tip
There is currently a politically party that is trying to gain power in this country. Fortunately the more that the ideology is discussed, the more push back arrives. In this country they have tried to camouflage the socialistic agenda by calling it democratic socialism
I think that if socialism could have thrived in any country then it probably would have been Venezuela, and it probably did work at first (socialism works pretty good until you run out of other peoples money, and then [as you are aware] it fails.) The failure of socialism is not a gradual let down (like making a controled decent when rock climbing)
The failure of socialism is abrupt, like one minute your headed upward and the next second you are speeding towards the ground
Of course with Capitalism you and I are in a compitition to prove who can produce the best goods and/or services, and in a Capitalistic society the customer is allowed to vote (called payment) on who is better.
With socialism its a race to the bottom, the only vote that a socialist ecconomy takes is 'who is the biggest con-artist'. The only way to get ahead in a socialist ecconomy is by cutting corners. Say we are both cabinet makers and we produce similar products, if we are both garenteed payment for a job why should I care if I use inferior building materials. So you might make high quality products that will last for years, but my products are chensy. (watch this) you might be an upstanding fellow but evidentially you will not be able to afford to keep your integrity! So as I said socialism is a race to the bottom, I dont care how strong the economy of a country is. The minute that socialism is accepted a death spirial is started
This is a more 'complex' explanation of a basic ecconomic principal called 'The tragedy of the commons'
In America people that are 'crafty snakes' lie and tell people that socialism is a kind system, and Capitalism is a cruel hearted system...but as you have experienced socialism is a hopeless situation where wealthy people can not afford to feed there families. So it might be less than ideal for us to have an ecconomic system that forces you and I to compete to offer the best service, the truth is that the human heart is so wicked that the default setting is for us to crash and burn.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
Exactly. I've found that any imperfect but honest system (even honest about the competitive human nature) is better than any absurd utopia. And socialism is just that, an absurd utopia based on dreams.
That makes me remember a phrase I read in a book about the traditional anarchism; it was like: The core fail of anarchists was their irrational trust in people's rationality. I think it's true.
Dante said that "the paths of hell are paved with good intentions." That applies for every honest socialist (those people who really, sincerely, believe in such ideals), because they are full of this dream of a perfect society, and they base their lives on that fantasy.
But reality doesn't care about our fantasies. If we make plans on lies and half-truths, reality will come later to destroy them and show us the real nature of the world.
Capitalism understands the real nature of the world. Now I think that it allows many improvements inside its own logic. We don't need to tackle down Capitalism, we need to improve it, to play with its forms like clay shaping better outcomes. I will keep teaching that in my country. We need to grow.
I like the quote about anarchy: The core fail of anarchists was their irrational trust in people's rationality.
I feel that you nailed down the situation well. According to me the problems stem from one key issue 'mankind does not want to admit that there is a creator. Maby 90% of people like the rules that the Bible teaches (ex. be kind to your neighbor, lend a helping hand to the needy.) Socialism is an incredibly compassionate system that puts a group of people in the position of 'god'. So socialism is 'Christianity if Christianity did not have a GOD' The glaring lesson that can be learned is that the hearts of mankind are wicked. It is like lord Action said 'power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' If the nicest guy that you know is given some sort of authority, then it is only a matter of time before the person becomes corrupt. Mankind can not handle power, that is what the Bible means when it says that we must die daily. I must daily put to death how I want to handle things, its really for my own good!
I want to teach about a subject that many people do not know about. The terms that start with 'A' or 'Ag' means no or against. So the word -atheist, agostic- means 'no or against god/s or knowledge of god' The word anarchy means 'rulership by no one' But an atheist is a potentialy dangerous person. An atheist would say that a persons moral beliefs vary from person to person. I have stated that if someone approaches me and tells me that I am going to be killed and eaten because of that persons tribal belief...then I expect other people to help me and stop the assault. But if someone says 'I personally do not believe in eating people, but who am I to criticize someone else's beliefs'
It is easy to see why I believe that 'atheists and agnostics' are dangerous to society. What many people do not understand is that a catagory of people exist between atheism and Theism (the belief in a god/s) The catagory is called 'deism' and although a persons afterlife is still in danger, it produces a much more quality human being. A deist would say that he/she knows that there is a god/s (with an established moral code) however they choose to not dedicate their lives to the god.
So socialists are not evil people, they are just people that are incredibly naive. As the saying goes 'the devil will get his dues'. Obviously no person is able to work for free, and socialism thinks that a group of people will manage society for free.
Well I believe that modern western society needs to regain some sense of transcendence. Religion gave it in the past, hence people had profound meanings in their lives.
Now people try to catch the deep meanings of life by joining those political ideologies, but there is no mysticism, no transcendence, no link to the soul. There is no real meaning.
We need to return to a shiny place of humbleness in our hearts... to return to innocence, like the beautiful song of Enigma:
What I think is intresting is the fact that you can see that people are searching for an answer that they do not want to hear.
At a basic level it is easy to understand that human beings are morally bankrupt and if given the oppertunity the other guy will step on your head just so that they can get ahead. Of course the next 'new thing' will be them saying that 'we all know that its a bad idea to completely trust humans to do the right thing...but they will say that robots can be trusted (artificial inteligence)
Oh that affair of the AI is giving me much thought. I am deeply interested in transhumanism, to explore and try to understand our coming existential problems in high-tech societies. And I feel a tiny fear about all the moral implications of the artificial intelligence.
Now I remember that there is a Christian branch of the transhumanist philosophy. Maybe this will be interesting for you:
