The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)
I saw a couple of black woodpeckers on one tree. Together they hammered and tore the bark from the birch.
It was very inconvenient to photograph them. I stood knee-high in the snow on the hillside, and I could barely keep myself as it was slippery. Under the snow was a fallen tree, which was slippery!
Male. Sitting on the right side. When he saw me, he sat for a while, thought for a while, and decided, just in case, to get out of the way.
Female. Sitting on the left. Also it appeared less cowardly, rather than the male. She was all the same to me. But still tried to hide from my camera :)
Pay attention to the trees! The bark on them is simply torn out! A powerful beak allows them to find and retrieve very deep frozen insects. Other woodpeckers can not do this.

post a very good friend I really like friend if there is time please visit my blog.
Beautiful woodpecker and great shots @ratel! That black plumage really makes their eyes stand out! And the pupil is an interesting shape :)
I'll bet these ones make quite a bit of noise, which is always helpful ;)
Thank you!
Yes! You're right! The sound of this woodpecker differs from the sounds of other woodpeckers. I mean the sound of the hammering of a tree. Small woodpeckers just quietly chop the tree, but the black woodpecker rumbles all over the forest! Do not confuse it with others! :)
In addition, his screams themselves are very loud and different in sound from other woodpeeckers :)

Thank You! :)
