OMG - what a journey
So there you have it. A deep dive into what I’ve been posting about for the last few years. Whether I’m enjoying a refreshing beer at a local festival, capturing the sights and sounds of a new city or country or beach or dive, or just sharing a laugh with the Hive community, it’s all part of the journey. And even all the music and fun need to be mentioned beneath all the meetups in Aachen and all around the world
Life is full of new experiences, and I can’t wait to keep sharing mine with you!
Hey Hive Family
enjoy life and #beer
and let us #travel the world again
to add more pins to #worldmappin
What a journey
Over the last few years, my posts on #Hive have become a colorful mix of #travel adventures, #beer stories, and community-driven content, each reflecting my passion for both exploring the world and enjoying a cold brew with like-minded souls.
Let me break it all down into categories, so you get the full flavor of what I’ve been up to. It’s been an epic ride, and I’ve loved every minute of it!
See my 5 years on Hive - This community is a part of my life and I really enjoy it - https://ecency.com/birthday/@detlev/5-years-on-hive-this-community-is-a-part-of-my-life-and-i-really-enjoy-it from 3 years ago
1. Beer Content: My Craft and Passion
One of the things that’s always been at the heart of my posts is beer. Not just any beer, but the kind that tells a story or brings people together. Every #BeerSaturday has been a chance for me to dive deep into new brews and celebrate the culture surrounding beer. Whether it’s a post like The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 346, where I join others in a weekly beer photo-sharing challenge, or a more personal piece like Tits - What a name for a beer!, where I explore a beer with an outrageous name, I’ve been part of a thriving community that celebrates craft brews, rare finds, and the simple joy of enjoying a good drink with friends.
I've also shared some detailed beer reviews, such as Beer Photo Shooting with Belzebuth Rouge, where I’ve gone all-in on showcasing unique beers from France. Each post comes with stunning photography and thoughts on the flavors, making it a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.
2. Travel Vibes: Exploring the World One Post at a Time
Travel has always been another big part of my life, and I love bringing you along for the ride. Whether I’m capturing the fun, chaos, and colors of events like the Carnival in Aachen or sharing a more laid-back travel experience like https://peakd.com/@detlev/labuan-baja-the-gateway-to-komodo, my posts often blend the beauty of the places I visit with a personal touch.
In my posts, I sometimes tie my travels to beer, giving a unique perspective of the world through the lens of a beer lover. #Worldmappin is a travel hashtag I love to use because it connects my adventures to a global map. It’s like leaving a little digital footprint of the places I’ve been, from exploring beer festivals in various countries to the quiet corners of the world where I’ve shared a drink with locals.
3. #BeerSaturday Challenges: My Community Cornerstone
Let’s talk about #BeerSaturday. It’s a weekly challenge I’ve been a part of for ages, and it’s one of the main ways I engage with the Hive community. Not only do I post my own beer photos and stories, but I also spotlight the amazing contributions from other beer lovers. It’s a platform for us all to show off our favorite brews, whether it’s a rare Belgian beer or a homebrew we’ve perfected ourselves.
I’ve had a blast collaborating with fellow beer enthusiasts and contributing to the fun. The challenge keeps me connected with others who share the same passion, and it feels great to see so many people embracing the spirit of this community. Plus, there’s the bonus of earning Hive, Beer, or LEO tokens from the challenge — it's a win-win.
4. Collaborations: The Power of Working Together
Throughout my time on Hive, I’ve often teamed up with other creators for various challenges or simply to have fun. For instance, in posts like The #metalweekend is calling, I’ve worked alongside Hive members to create dynamic content that’s not just about beer or travel but about community collaboration and cool music. These posts reflect the vibrant, inclusive all kind of metal music and remind me why I keep coming back: to connect, share, and celebrate life’s little pleasures with others.
Marillion - neo-progressive Rock from my youth
5. Personal Milestones: From Dreams to Reality
While I’ve shared plenty of beer and travel moments, I’ve also taken a step back to reflect on my personal journey. In posts like "When a dream comes true" https://peakd.com/rally/@detlev/when-a-dream-comes-true, I’ve chronicled milestones I’ve achieved in my life—whether they’re related to my career, travel goals, or personal aspirations. These posts show a different side of me, not just as a traveler or beer lover, but as someone who’s navigating the ups and downs of life.
6. Humor and Storytelling: Where Life Meets Fun
One thing that runs through all of my posts is humor. Whether I’m cracking a joke about the quirky names of beers, like the Tits beer from Belgium, or sharing a funny travel mishap, I’ve always tried to keep things light and entertaining. Life is too short to take too seriously, and I’ve made sure my posts reflect that playful, easygoing vibe.
7. The Love for Local: Supporting Craft Beer and Local Producers
I’ve made it a point to highlight and support local breweries and beer makers, especially those who focus on quality over mass production. Some of my favorite posts are the ones where I’ve spotlighted small-batch brews or unique regional beers. These posts are a tribute to the hardworking brewers out there who are pushing the boundaries of beer innovation.
8. Exploration the world: Lifestyle and Culture
I’ve also ventured into other lifestyle topics that inspire me. From talking about the importance of getting outside and exploring new places to reflecting on cultural experiences, my content goes beyond just drinking beer. It’s about embracing the culture, people, and experiences that come with each new adventure.

Managing the WorldMappin Project: Bringing the Map to Life
As part of my involvement with WorldMappin, I've also taken on the role of managing the project, which has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The project is all about connecting the Hive community through travel and exploration, and my role has been to help organize, promote, and expand it.
Managing WorldMappin means I’m not only mapping my own journeys but also encouraging and guiding others in the Hive community to share their own locations and experiences. It's been a fantastic way to bring people together through a shared love of discovering new places. I’ve helped build the map, setting up the framework for others to easily contribute their own destinations, creating a virtual representation of our collective wanderlust.
New Pins
The project has grown beyond just pins on a map—it's about the stories behind those pins. I've been involved in curating and promoting different travel-themed posts, connecting contributors with the larger Hive audience, and celebrating the diversity of locations and experiences shared by all. Whether it’s posting about a unique city I’ve visited or encouraging others to add their own locations, my goal has been to create a space where every traveler’s experience is valued.
Managing WorldMappin has also meant collaborating with others who are passionate about the idea of global connection. From hosting challenges to encouraging creative ways of mapping our journeys, it’s been a chance to engage with a wide range of Hive members. It’s more than just a project—it’s a celebration of the places we’ve been, the cultures we’ve experienced, and the memories we’ve made along the way.
Stats of the last days
Overall, this role has helped me further my passion for travel and mapping while also strengthening ties within the Hive community. It’s been an exciting way to bring the world a little closer together, one pin at a time.

Aah wow happy Hiveversary! 🎉🤗 8 years! Here's to 8 more and many more adventures (and lovely brews) to share with the world!
Hey @honeydue many thanks.
I will look for more adventures and even more different and special brews.
Even more for Hivians like you to share and celebrate them with.
Happy 8th B-Day, Detlev!!! 🍺🎉🍻🍺🎉🍻
So many great stories, and so many great stories are yet to be written!
It was a pleasure to meet you and to have a nice conversation! See you at some of the next HIVE events!
Counting days for next hive fest to meet you again
Thanks
What wonderful shared experiences, and I'm just getting started...
Congratulations, hugs!
Have a great start and feel free to ask
Thanks!
Wow happy hiveday!
#beersaturday has been a regular habit of mine for so many years and it is all thanks to you. Also fun seeing and supporting the other projects you are involved in. Speaking at conferences and promoting off platform as much as on. You are a Hivangelist and builder unmatched.
Cheers to you once again old friend! !BEER
Thanks and hopefully we will have one day some beers together
Congratulations on your 8th Hiversary! I saw someone else with their personalised toy kit today, but I can't remember who. Where do you create it?
The toy kit is just a longer prompt for an AI.
I will do a post about this the next days.
Happy Hivey
Yeah!
Hello, what a joy, what a nice toy kit... 😀 👏 happy Hiversary!
8 is the number of infinity. You do a lot for this blockchain.
Thanks - I do what I like for and with the community
Happy Birthday. I will be 8 years in June.
Hive / Steemit has been my best side Hustle since Adsense was invented.
Yes, and thanks for so much feedback over the years.
Happy 8 years on Hive 🥳🍻
Heyhooo @masterswatch thanks for all your help and travel talk
Happy Hive birthday, man! It calls for a couple of pints! ;)
Cheers!
Godfish might be renamed to godbeer but I will take care that this "job" or call for some pints will be done ✅
:)
First of all, Congratulations on the 8th Birthday, You have really taken the WorldMappin community to a new height, and I personally think, this is the best community built on hive, because everyone has some travel story to tell. We will certainly meet in this globe at some point of time - may be you come to India for a hive fest !!!
A HiveFest in India will be fun.
I traveled India a few times, starting way back in 1987 or so for 2 month from "Bombay to Trivandrum and back by train" and another trip to Kerala and Mumbay.
8 years is huge, happy Hiveversary! Loved the action figure 🙂 Cheers to the next 8 years! !BEER
The action toy is a cool one. Leave me a picture and some topics and I do one for you
Will pass, but thanks a ton for offering nevertheless! That deserves another !BEER
You have been an inspiration here to many. It's been great to have a beer with you in various locations. I think we first met in Lisbon and I enjoyed our little outing in London when you were over here.
Hive needs a few more like you and we have lots of great projects. We just need people to know what is possible with this freedom in a world where data is often constrained.
Keep up the good work!
!LUV
Yeah, I never forget our walk in Lisbon where we met and the longer one in London with some nice beers

Wow. happy happy 8th Hiveversary! 🎉 Cheers
Thanks and Cheers
I have been resting from posting but have been travelling and capturing some interesting places.
Worldmappin is a great resource that I contribute to when I do post.Congratulations @detlev on this milestone of 8 years. Ditto for me too.
I'm on the Jurassic coast right now and hoping to get some drone footage. I might even post something.🤦♂️😂🌞👍
Hey @molometer great to read from you. I just did a drone flight at a huge coal digging site - love to see yours
Happy Birthday in Hive friend 8 years awesome
Congratulations on 8 years buzzing about in the hive, a special thank you from me for worldmappin, it was concerning with the collapse of pinmapple (RIP) that there would not be a populist place to shove travel snaps and stories, then along strolls the beer drinker and the world is a smaller better place.
I shall buy you a beer if there is ever a hiv efest I can get to
Cheers
Many thanks and looking forward to meet you at any hive fest for a beer
Cheers to that
Hey 8 years is a really long time and I think you are one of the few people who have stayed here that long. I am only 1 month away from my 3rd year and it is exciting. Thank you for contributing to Hive with your ongoing projects.
I haven't met you in real life yet, but I got to know you when you decided to start the Worldmappin project on Hive.
Thanks - yeah we saved all the pins and even better we managed the integration to the different frontends and even to districting
Some time we will meet.
Congratulations on your 8th Hive-versary! I think we've actually met a couple of times at some of the 'fests. Did you attend the first (Amsterdam) and second (Lisbon) ones?
Lisbon was my first one and I will never forget the moment as a lovely Hivians (dressed as waiter) joins at the end of my
Speech with a lot of fresh beers. 🍻
I guess that makes sense since I'm coming up on my ninth in July! I know I remember seeing you there but I don't think we met formally. My wife and I were only in Lisbon for three days. Did you attend the presentation for the HardFork series? Beers and speeches go well together! : )
I think we might saw us but not really talked to each other.
What an amazing journey you are travelling.
I can only imagine drinking a Tits Beers. Could be #TooFuckeh #FUN but I no longer drink alcohol. Maybe put some maiden oil in it. Hmm !LOLZ
I had a quick read and made a mental note to go back and take a closer look/see. I saw a few gems that could provide guidance on my own Hive journey.
