Hello fellow Steemers and crypto investors,
Bitcoin has hit a new ATH! No, I’m not talking about a price ATH, this one is on Google Trends worldwide.
Amazingly, against all odds, after all the FUD, the China rumors and banning of exchanges the Bitcoin train is just unstoppable.
This means people worldwide are searching for Bitcoin online more than ever, even if it’s about negative news sometimes.
Like this quote by Oscar Wilde says: There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.
Something that also surprised me was comparing Bitcoin with the next two altcoins by market cap in Google Trends, Ethereum and Litecoin. Not only does Bitcoin have an amazing lead in this comparison, Ethereum and Litecoin searches have been falling dramatically:
Bitcoin vs Ethereum vs Litecoin (searches in the last 5 years)
Bitcoin vs Ethereum vs Litecoin (searches in the last 12 months)
Bitcoin vs China. Bitcoin is slowly becoming more popular than China! No wonder they are jealous haha!) - (searches in the last 12 months)
Bitcoin vs Xi Jinping (current president of China, searches in the last 12 months)
Turns out they only pissed off this Honey Badger!

What happened to NEO cryptocurrency? I thought the Chinese government approved this coin. Looks like there are a lot more buyers than sellers right now. I don't think the Chinese government likes bitcoin because they can't control it.

I honestly think China is bluffing. Of all places, China knows the importance of blockchain technology. Bitcoin can't be stopped :)

It was simply foolish to believe that BTC was going away because China was going after the exchanges. This provided a buying opportunity which I am glad I was able to take advantage of. BTC is going to go up a lot higher from here. It simply is getting on the radar of too many people.
The fact that BTC is getting a wide lead in searches than LTC and ETH isnt surprising. People are headline readers. Ask the average person if they heard of bitcoin and, if they are one of the few who says yes, ask them to name one altcoin. They wont know one (wont know what an altcoin is either).
And this is why I believe BTC will always be the gold of digital currencies...it has the name recognition and people know it. There is no reason to switch from that standard.
