It's probably a good thing, no matter what-- the more cryptos become a "household concept," the better.
I'm just hopeful that 2018 will not only be a mainstreaming year, but also a year in which alt coins develop an identity of their own, separate from BTC. What I mean is, it's time we move on from everything being described as "like bitcoin." And time to move on from the paradigm that if BTC is going up, the market goes up, and vice versa.
@denmarkguy I totally agree. I wish alt coins would stop being tethered to other cryptos and start being bought with usd or other "real" currencies. Bitcoin honestly is shit as far as currency goes. It would be worth a lot less if everything wasn't tethered to it IMO.
