in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

Bitcoin has loads of fun facts about its mining and other situations with money. We all known famous stories of lost drives and private keys, here is some fun facts about mostly mining itself.

1,8 million coins are still unspent

By todays price 4 503 000 000 USD worth of coins have never moved.

Block 9 has the first even spent coins, from Satoshi sent to Hal Finney.

Block 78 was the first to be fully spent.

All early blocks (before 79764)were all mined to single wallet address

Guess who owns it?

Chinese BTCC Pool mined empty block and left it unspent

Last untouched money are in 448064 block

All blocks below 135000 are in unencryted wallets

Encryption is extra cover on your private keys, but.. it was added in 2011. Means all unspent and nonmoved coins prior to block 135 000 been in unencrypted wallets. Doesnt mean that wasnt updated later.

Bitcoin Megatransaction

XSS in Output

Somebody tried to make websites that crawl blockchain to run XSS (hack attack) on themselves.

Nakamoto has claimed to be a man living in Japan, born on 5 April 1975.[2] However, speculation about the true identity of Nakamoto has mostly focused on a number of cryptography and computer science experts of non-Japanese descent, living in the United States and Europe.[3] One person, Australian programmer Craig Steven Wright, has claimed to be Nakamoto, though he has not yet offered proof of this.[4]

As of 24 May 2017, Nakamoto is believed to own up to roughly one million bitcoins,[5] with a value estimated at over $2 billion USD.

Have you every heard the story of 10000 bitcoin used to pay for a pizza in 2008 or the early years ?

Etherum and ripple is future!!

I got Counterpartyd running on my machine like a day after the burn period ended. I was very sad a few days later when those XCP were worth 7x the burnt BTC.

Yo, honestly you have the best fucking stories and give us interesting facts +1!!!

Imagine how hard it is to find something unique and interesting daily just in topic of cryptos!
Im doing it for all readers and followers are just raising.

Thanx for appreciation

This is interesting
Have you thought about doing a Bitcoin funfact series?

Wow this could be not bad! I will have to think of that :)

Is there anyone else that would be interested in tuning into it if he started the series?

Absolutly! That would be great to see and follow!

I would for sure!

@majorleaguemarc That's a good idea. @kingscrown definitely think about it. I would tune in (Follow) ;)

A friend of mine claims to have mined over 50 btc in the early days. Unfortunately he got hacked, so I regularly send him price updates.

What a great friend ;) lol

LOL you must get hilarious answers from him

Yeah. The past two months he has missed a extra house by the sea. Maybe I should encourage him to restart saving in crypto.

Interesting post. Thanks for posting it. Steem on @kingscrown

Haha funny gif

I am glad you like it ;). It carries the title "Eating the Steem Power-Up Mushroom" .. not too creative I guess :).

This BTC wallet address seems like the weakest link for general use. I am a teacher and deal with people every day. I don't think it would be viable to expect the general population to be meticulous or concentrated enough to even copy/paste the right address. And I believe even any of us can make an odd mistake. We are walking a tight rope every time we send. At least that's how I feel :/

Thats what STEEM/BTS solves but then.. money are stuck to your nickname. Not good walking around with amounts of money you have written on your forehead

Yup. I am worried that some people might learn about my wallet here. It is nothing that special but I'd rather avoid it :/

"All early blocks (before 79764)were all mined to single wallet address"

that scares me

Yeah this means IF Satoshi owns the keys he could collapse the market to pennies

There should be a fork that "destorys" this wallet...

Damn @kingscrown thats really scary! if that happens one day alot of people will be in a bad shape :/ Only starting now in the crypto world so i hope this stays stable for a little while haha!

Thats why you should't invest money you're not willing to lose and split between different coins :)

Yeah thats exactly what i'm going to do! Thats the 101 of financial investment, put each egg in different basket's :D

You shouldn't trust any other coin than Bitcoin for long term investment.

Chances of that person being dead?

Well you never know... thats the problem

Very interesting, some hackers must be searching high and low for it.

Don't think so haha :D Thats not how it works ^^

Some hackers might need to work offline to get their prize online :)

Wise words :) But I am not sure if they are still hackers then ^^

Man if I had a wallet with 2130 bitcoins but couldn't log into it I would cry until I died of dehydration!

Haha, sounds awesome ;) (NOT)

Hahaha, I had 0.5 BTC locked on one of the supplier, I almost had an heart attack, couldn't sleep for 2 nights. 2130 Bitcoins is way beyond of my imaginations. I would be more then happy with 2 BTC at the moment.

BTW, speaking about lost coins, didn't they estimate that there are about a million Bitcoins lost already?

This are just estimates and theres many so i initially added them to post then decided its not solid enough to leave there :)
Feel free to share links that you found

Yeah isn't this a huge problem for bitcoin. I mean if the bitcoins are always lost, it will be so hard for new people to get and hold them. Maybe an application can replace bitcoins that have not been moved for a certain amount of time.

It's up to us to decide how much a Bitcoin should be worth and estimating how much coins are lost will help with that. People have looked into it before, but not enough effort has been put into it and not enough data has been publicly shared in my opinion. But it's only a matter of time before people realize there is less available supply than expected and then the price with naturally increase.

Really 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuEBitcoin Balance: 13.12189145 BTC.

1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVrBitcoin Balance: 2130.85782531

1111111111111111111114oLvT2Bitcoin Balance: 58.53498606 BTC

thats a lota coin hard to believe wow ..and lmao

You can check on blockchain :)

Good old days mining those fuckers on my toshiba labtop...

Haha i have been mining even on Mac Mini v1 :)

aaaahhh. good ol' days...

Bit off topic but I'm thinking to invest some money in steem coin by buying bitcoins etc, I am a totally new to all this can any one tell that is it a good idea to invest in steem coins ? If yes then how much I invest?

Satoshi must be sitting on a goldmine! Interesting read, thanks for sharing

Entertaining. Nice Post.

Wow, well done. How do you know all this stuff?

An alternative currency (or private currency) is any currency used as an alternative to the dominant national or multinational currency systems. They are created by an individual, corporation, or organization, they can be created by national, state, or local governments, or they can arise naturally as people begin to use a certain commodity as a currency. Mutual credit is a form of alternative currency, and thus any form of lending that does not go through the banking system can be considered a form of alternative currency.

When used in combination with or when designed to work in combination with national or multinational fiat currencies they can be referred to as complementary currency. Most complementary currencies are also local currencies and are limited to a certain region.

Barters are another type of alternative currency. These are actually exchange systems, which only trade items; thus without the use of any currency whatsoever. Finally, LETS is a special form of barter which trades points for items. One point stands for one worker-hour of work.

Often there are issues related to paying tax. Some alternative currencies are considered tax-exempt, but most of them are fully taxed as if they were national currency, with the caveat that the tax must be paid in the national currency. The legality and tax-status of alternative currencies varies widely from country to country; some systems in use in some countries would be illegal in others.

impressive i must say, very detailed analysis, great post my friend, thanks for sharing!

is so helpful post!

Thanks @kingscrown!!!

I think you should upvote when some one wrote a good comments. I belive A HERO no longer stay his position without fan. :P

@kingscrown

I actually always do that ;)

o yaaa. I got it @@@kingscrown

nice facts! thx for sharing :D

Thanks for sharing those are some really cool stats. I do believe I shall try my luck at generating a private key for 1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVr. Wish me luck :P

It would be easier to generate those bitcoins from mining.

wow ...awesome stuff ..i guess that a lot of bitcoins are owned by ded people or were lost by their owners ...I wonder if in the future there will be a procedure that if a bitcoin was not touched for a very long period of time - it could be used sold again ..but the period has to be like 100 years...

Thank you. Interesting post.
"don't have existing private keys" how they generate their addresses?

It is very easy to make such addresses from a string. You just have to make some small adjustments to make that string a VALID Bitcoin address.

Maybe I should make a small post about it :)

Yeh, it will be interesting to read.
Also maybe they never lost private keys))?

every thing will be ok with bitcoin you will see !

Nice to see you still going kingscrown, good article.

Interesting article! wierd that there is so many unencypted wallets.....most of them probably have lost their private key as well.

This are some fucking interesting things.
I guess everybody knows the pizza story, and the one of the guy who had 300.000 bitcoins and his girlfriend said that was worthless and made him throw away the computer

Interesting article for those new to bitcoin

bài viết rất tuyệt

This is interesting information :)

Thank you for this incredibly insightful information!

keep your crypts safe!!!

I wonder what proportion of BTC are lost regularly to sudden death with no saved key for heirs, etc. It would be interesting to know the true rate of deflation!

@kingscrown Great content, following bitcoin from now on.

Thnks for the information know that

Cool story bro! :) No really, this is good stuff. Short but very precise and to the point, i love it.

Holy shit, this article is good, but not $700 good lol. There's something seriously wrong with how STEEM allows people to curate like this. Posts almost always are way undervalued or way overvalued, almost no post is curated properly.

Are the coins mined nowadays calculated in these 1,8M coins that never has been moved?

Every second this info gets little and little bit outdated but yes ;)

Thanks for this info @jray

follow@lovy

keep up
more interesting cryptocurrency stories

your post deserve my resteem and upvote....

Very nice and informativ post, thank you!

who owns it?

Satoshi!

hahahaha! thanks, mate!

how many BTC did he destroy?

They are never moved, we dont know if he can move them or not.. Thats the biggest risk in BTC

oh i see. if we multiply 50 BTC for each block, does that mean there are 4M BTC that have not moved?

Im not that great with maths to keep this as solid number but with a little digging the wallets can be found on blockchain

thank you. :)

Dificult way to be grow up....

great post! :)

really interesting stuff!!

Great news from you
