In everyday life, we have hundreds of connections with known and unknown people. We meet our colleagues at work, other students attending our same courses, friends and various members of our family. Let alone strangers on the metro or in a supermarket.
Let's face a reality: it is impossible to get along with everyone, every day. We live a fast-paced life and often there's no energy left to invest to honestly try and understand other people's point of view, especially if they are very different from our own.
But it can happen, from time to time, to feel some natural and intuitive sympathy for someone we have just met in person or through a computer or smartphone. I am a very shy person and usually, I don't easily talk much to people I've just met.
Nevertheless, there are certain topics that make me feel very close to everybody sharing interest in them. Suddenly it seems I know very well this new person and, as we speak, we usually find more and more things in common. Some of the topics that have this very specific effect on my relationship with unknown people are Bitcoin, Cryptocurrencies and the Blockchain.
Today I learned why it works in this way and the mechanism joining so different people all over the world.
I came across a statistic from Google Analytics. They gathered informations about the main affinities in the Bitcoin Community. The graphic below shows the ten more important affinities and, surprisingly enough, I can say that this is an accurate description of my interests (maybe not necessarily in this order).
It would be interesting to know if the same happens to you...
And now, my personal interpretation of the portrayal of the ten affinities:
Avid Investors :D
Technophiles
Shutterbugs
Movie Lovers
Tv Lovers
News Junkies & Avid Readers/Business & Economic News Junkies
Political Junkies
Mobile Enthusiast
Music Lovers
Travel Buffs

I think many people have followed a similar to path to arrive at their end destination (Bitcoin) which explains the sense of community. I feel for a lot of people it isn't about 'making money' but rather encouraging the development of a system that ensures others don't need to suffer the same consequences as those before us.
I couldn't agree more with you...it's a movement having more than one face and the destination is a better world or, at least, a mostly fair one. An idealistic point of view? I don't think so...
