Will Satoshi Nakamoto Ever Win The Nobel Prize?

For the very, very, very few who don't know, Satoshi Nakamoto is the name of the individual--or group--that created Bitcoin. Enough has been written and said about his (or their) incognito status.[1]The aim of this post is not to add to that literature. But ever since I learnt that there was actually somebody, a human, flesh and blood, behind the creation of this 'money out of thin air' that threatens to change the very fabric upon which human interactions are based, I haven't been able to cease to marvel at the genius of such a human being.

Perhaps Satoshi Nakamoto is a group--it is very possible, of course--it should be said that this does nothing to lessen the impact of the invention, and my awe of them!

So firstly, does Satoshi Nakamoto DESERVE to win The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (or the Swedish National Bank's Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel), commonly referred to as the Nobel Prize in Economics?

Uh, duh, the facts speak for themselves. Sure, many would point to the fact that the framework for blockchain technology--the innovation which made bitcoin possible--along with proposals for the Proof-Of-Work model, has indeed been proposed before Nakamoto. Others might point to the fact that he has never published in any of the big-shot economics or finance journals.

But all that is pure bollocks. Nakamoto perfected those systems, he made it work; turned mere pipe dream into a reality, so that millions of people might benefit and take their economic, financial, and even psychological, fate into their own hands!

We're not going to indulge in the panegyrics of bitcoin and other cryptos based on the blockchain technology--including our beloved Steem--these are too obvious and all over the net.

Also it should be noted that all kinds of Nobel have been awarded to men who are no longer remembered or studied; whose influence has long died away, or whose models turned out to drive them, and a lot others, into bankruptcy and lunacy!

It is obvious Nakamoto, and the blockchain technology, will be relevant for centuries to come!

So will Satoshi Nakamoto ever WIN the prize?

UCLA Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry did in fact chose to nominate Nakamoto for the 2016 Prize. According to Chowdhry,
He was even willing, he said, to accept and read a speech on Nakamoto's behalf.[2]

It appeared, however, that the The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences would not consider the nomination unless the legendary Nakamoto were to reveal his identity, because,
'The prize, as in this instance, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel, is never awarded anonymously nor posthumously.'[3]

Is The Nobel Enough To Make Satoshi Nakamoto Reveal His Identity?

That depends, of course, on why the identity is hidden in the first place. Like I said there have been speculations, to which we're not willing to add any more word.

It is interesting to note, however, that Satoshi Nakamoto, whoever or whatever he really is (or they really are) might have already won the Nobel Prize!

I've read it and it's quite funny to realize that someone more influential had the same idea almost two years ago. However, the way the proposition was to be made was pretty selfish in itself and revolved around the reputation and prestige of a forgettable yet influential academic who probably wanted to boost his fame. Having a community demand for a nomination would be much more effective in the field where it really matters: uniting the crypto community for a single cause everyone can agree on and creating some buzz around Bitcoin (which will benefit the entire market at large).
