**UPDATE**Graviex = Scam, got me for a couple ETH

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

Deposit coins?
Had to refresh the first time because wallet address didn't show up.
Send from #Coinomi make sure QR matched the ETH wallet on screen.
Click refresh , deposit address changes again.
No big deal right?
Deposit addresses change all the time on exchanges, it's a BIP32 it will go through.

8 hours later, and a couple thousand dollars (a few #ETH ) sitting in a wallet with 1 transaction.
With 1500 confirmations.

Get s response "this doesn't match your current deposit address" welp, I went from being half asleep too wide awake.
Like are you new? This is 2018, this doesn't happen anymore.
I know I would not be the only one, and most on such an exchange can't afford to promote a post on FB, Twitter, Steemit, Reddit, and IG.

If this has happened to you, let me know.

Ever been asked "if you have $100,000 and someone steals 10 would you spend the rest to get the 10 back?"

I am the type to say absolutely, it's out of principle.

UPDATE
So it looks like steemit and social def helped resolve this issue, after several hours and likely them seeing Graviex = Scam on every social platform, it looks like they deposited my fund's and said "great news we found the issue, we credited your account"

Always hold exchanges and anyone accountable immediately. The only way to preserve self regulation and keep government out of our space, is by being radically transparent.
It is our obligation as a community to fight for what is ours and protect it.

These things are so bad for digital currencies. Everyone wants trust able gateway for what he earns. When these things happens then it hurts the users of digital currencies and people can not trust them again. They should have to define a policy to return user loss for the sake of trust.

Exactly! I want a defined policy if their is error on their end. If they have problems with their system, we are not liable. They make a fortune off us in fee's anyways.

It does hurt our industry as a whole, and it makes us all look bad. We came here for radical transparency and privacy. That's why we all got into this industry. Yet some of these exchanges are giving us a bad name as a community!

Never had such experience.... Too bad you have to deal with that

I am glad it is not an everyday thing! Sadly it is a harsh reality that they still do this to even a fraction of their customers, when it would take up no extra storage to have keys properly done, and if they don't its a massive shame on them!

Honestly, it's a big shame.... That's really bad of them

It's even more unfortunate because i was really looking forward to supporting a few projects on there.
There are some great things on there, and without them getting volume it's incredibly hard for them to get listed on major exchanges.
I like to give back to the community that changed my life, and bring great projects to light.

That's exactly how people get to miss great chances...... Now that you were up to support them, they messed up.

Scammers are allover the place, you can guarantee wherever there is money to be made, there likely to be scummers. Just try to be more careful. and double check before you finalise and transaction. Good Luck

Thanks, you would think that if you verify it, and have a friend look and make sure, it would be correct. but it's the best we can do currently, its truly unfortunate!

This is the real problem and its happen much on the etherium block chain they can say just a free token but after the time they give your an a dress for sending coin. Its real scam

It looks like you are not the one who had tough time with Graviex. I had to contact support many times because of deposit/withdrawals issue and mostly they help. Although it looks like they luck technical expertise, there are things to improve. Like when you withdraw and it fails for network reason, you get withdrawal status: failed. Funds are still locked. You have to write to support about it to solve the problem. If the system determines withdrawal as failed, why wouldn't it release the funds automatically? Also I had several times issues when my deposits weren't seen before I write to support. Another thing, when you deposit, you get the message on e-mail "Your deposit has been credited into your account. If it's not you, please contact us ASAP". I don't like this message at all. How this can not be me? Do they fully understand the blockchain, can they operate it well? Did they experience mess in deposits in the past, so they write e-mails like that? I also read the thread about Graviex on bitcointalk and it seems that someone has lost $1500, well, this worries me: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2352780.msg51920952#msg51920952

Absolutely, Still love The Bot! Absolutely Livid with Graviex. Gonna probably bot dump this one to the top of trending from the other account.

So sorry in advance to the bot, because its likely going to have to update a lot.

@transparencybot yes it was meant in all kindness. I love the radical transparency this provides and ease of access to how much is spent, and look forward to a time where we have proper sponsored content and no longer have to take advantage of a system for quality content to be seen.
