Do you think the increase in transaction fees is here to stay? Given the open source aspects of cryptocurrency and the tendency of the Internet to disintermediate everything (grocery stores seem to be next), transaction fees will go down. Very much down.

It'll come down to supply and demand. There is an increasing demand on the network. To match, we would need a lot more miners on the network and in more pools to increase competition and allow lower transaction fees and lower transactions times to be viable on the network.

Within ETH, there will always be gas costs, but those could be minimized using tokens or something off-chain - i.e. the Raiden network.
