While Walmart is pretty crappy, it is also obvious from these and all his subsequent videos that we are not dealing with a high IQ individual. Trevon has admitted in numerous posts that he does not actually understand how cryptocurrency works. Yet even though he lacked this knowledge he still switched his channel to exclusively crypto related topics. As he began building a following so to did the frequency of the videos.
Bitconnect
Collapse
Because of the fact that Bitconnect was using later inflows of capital to pay earlier investors, when the market corrected and collapsed the scheme they could only issue refunds in the BCC token, which lost 95% of it's value. So how did Trevon James respond? In a video filmed in his car, one payed for mostly with Bitconnect referrals, he stated quote
"Listen up, you didn't lose your money. Now you have your... Technically you lost your money."
Those are the absolute words of a genius right there. I could not have said it better myself. It seems that this man, one who can't even formulate a coherent sentence, much less deliver sound investment advice, was a trusted source of cryptocurrency related information for over 122 thousand people. It just goes to show the sheer amount of mindless individuals out there who get wrapped up in the schemes of nefarious people.
Exodus to Steemit
As the fallout from the sinking ship that was Bitconnect began to spread, James had to act and he had to act fast. He still had a large following and large sums of crypto with which to make money, so what better place than Steemit. He has had an account on the platform since June of 2016 and had been intermittently active on the site since then. At times he was posting everyday. But about 5 months ago the posts dwindled to a few times per month with lulls in between. However recently he began powering up tens of thousands of STEEM into SP, likely in hopes of pulling significant amounts of money from the reward pool.
Bernies Anders Goes Nuclear
This is when the story of Trevon James get quite a bit interesting. When he resumed his normal posting schedule about 21 days ago from the writing of this article, he was raking in a fairly decent amount from his posts. Yet the last post in which he received a payout was 9 days ago when he posted about STEEM's blockchain activity being the highest of any blockchain of crypto at the moment (Which by the way is totally awesome.) After that his posts are all greyed out. So what exactly transpired?
Well if you guess coordinated flagging campaigns led in large part by the fabled Steemian and Whale's War veteran @berniesanders then you would be correct. Originally prominent user The Marky Mark blacklisted Trevon from his upvote bot @buildawhale and got numerous other upvote bots Trevon was using on board with the sanctions. Other bot providers to join in the blockade included @randowhale, @upmyvote, @ipromote, and @minnowbooster.
It seemed James was running out of places to run, but there was one more hit he was about to receive shortly there after. See Bernie wasn't quite done yet. He had one more option at his disposal to disable the guy who literal facilitated the theft of millions of dollars from everyday people around the world; and that option was going nuclear. Approximately 2 days ago Bernie began sending his own "cease and desist" warning to users commenting and voting on all of Trevon James posts and in general cracking down the whip. "You will be automatically flagged. Do not support this piece of shit." began appearing everywhere on Trevon's posts, effectively sending them to the abyss.
And thus the damage was done. Trevon effectively stopped posting 3 days ago and is likely trying to either figure out places to delegate his Steem power or power it down. The former will likely become increasingly difficult as Minnow Booster has recently declined Trevon's delegation of SP.
Conclusion
So what does the future hold for Mr. Trevon James? He is still promoting likely scams including Davor coin and others. And unfortunately for him he has being sued in Federal Court in Southern Florida and has also begun to actively receive death threats. Videos have been posted online of him and his family and also videos of his possible whereabouts. Whether he will be held responsible in civil or criminal court has yet to be seen. Much is being debated on the internet of whether he was an active promoter or a victim himself, yet it is clear he made money from the endeavor and will likely be asked to forfeit some or all of the proceeds to help others in recovering their losses from the scam under penalty of contempt of court if he refuses. However someone taking matters into their own hands unfortunately is also a possibility. People kill for little amounts of money and what we are talk about here are some peoples life savings. That in and of itself can be very dangerous and I hope does not occur.
And a bit of advice for those who lost money either through Trevon's videos and Bitconnect or ponzi schemes in general. Traditionally safe investments earn around 1-3 percent per annum. Russian government bonds currently yield between 7-8% annually, and Venezuelan government securities earn roughly 35% in interest payments per year on 20 year bonds and the overnight was a whooping 450%. So Bitconnect was paying a better rate of return than the Venezuelan government.
The SEC wisely advises on it's website to be alert for "high investment returns with little or no risk" and simultaneously to "be highly suspicious of any "guaranteed" investment opportunity." With low risk comes low reward, and with high risk comes high reward. That formula is very simple. and to add to it, NEVER INVEST WHAT YOU CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE.

I don’t feel sorry for him but I do feel sorry for his family. He has a baby girl.
and this is why I don’t try to help anyone. Even if you have the best of intention, if shit goes down, people will blame you. Compare this to If shit goes down after you refer someone to a doctor or a certified wealth management service. They won’t get mad if you tell someone to go to the doctor and they die. It sounds cold but that is a lot of responsibility to bear. A lot of people can’t or won’t handle it and they will look for anyone to blame.
Well said. I made a mental note.
What a scumbag. Profiteering off of other people misery and acting like nothing happened. Shameful!
That's the reality of the world we live in. People must stay ever vigilant.
Excellent advice. People need to watch out It is the wild west all over again
I hope him and craig get locked up!
I also want to see them return all the money they earned benefiting from this illegal scam.
I was hoping he was actually in jail :/ pretty boy like him won't last long :D
Haha time will tell. But you may get your wish soon enough. And check back here in the near future because I have some more stories about other Bitconnect clowns like Craig Grant in the work. They are all getting exposed.
The main reason why he is, in my eyes, a bad person / scammer is that he showed no regret after what happened and he is not even showing any sympathy to the people who have lost their money! He even offended them in his videos after the crash and called them stupid for selling their bitconnect tokens. He even still promoted that obvious ponzi scheme and tried to encourge people to buy the coins in those videos after the crash!
Wow man, you have some serious story-writing skills. Not saying any of this is false, I'm saying I was 120% hooked and kept reading like there was no tomorrow.
Even though I love crypto and love investing, I didn't know about him.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the kind words. I really tried to put my all into the storyline on this one by the way because in and of itself it is a crazy story.
Yeah and it was also crazy "he goes nuclear" never heard the term :P
Good post.
Thanks
What a great and in depth post. I feel truly terrible for the people who lost their money in Bitconnect. A few of my friends were talking about it online and thinking they should invest and share it. I had heard negative things and it seemed too good to be true so I stayed away.
I also tried to warn a few people about what I had learned and how it was going to end in people being scammed. I was met with negativity and verbal abuse so I stopped talking about it. When the day finally came I couldnt beleive just how fast and how bad it all collapsed. I went straight on to some videos from Crypto Nick, Trevon James and Ryan Hildreth etc.. the way they were talking and shrugging it off was an utter disgrace.
I am new into Crypto. Well I say new, I have been aware since the start as I am slightly geeky and just interested in many things that others arent. I dont really watch too much TV, not into Football, Reality shows or Soaps it just depresses me that so much of humanity is consumed in totally unproductive and detremental habits. I mined a few Bitcoin many years ago and left them in a wallet (that I have never found). Was only 3BTC but they were worth nothing and I moved on to other things and slowly forgot about the new hype of Cryptos all those years ago. Once the price rose and fell then rose again I tried frantically to think how I could recover them but its not going to happen. I learned the hard way and had to write off a sum of money, which to me as a disabled parent supporting my partner and three children on my one wage is a life changing amount.
Instead of dwelling on my error I decided to follow cryptos loosely and just see what happens. I was intrigued at the tech, the innovation, the potential to make money and to achieve some of my life goals. So recently I began investing my savings. A few weeks passsed and I have a small portfolio now that I have put several thousand pounds of fiat into and again seen it dwindle. I believe things will turn around and I havent just further halted my progress and trying to acheive my goals but it is always a concern. Anyways I am going off subject, the reason I mentioned all that is to highlight that to many who lost their money there would certainly have been many in a much more precarious situation than mine. Many who were desperate, maybe they were facing losing their homes, maybe they couldnt support their family, maybe they have health issues that require money to get the right treatment. There could be any number of reasons for people to jump blindly into a scheme like Bitconnect. I have been thinking about it more and more lately and the reality is I will never know all of the people who lost out or just how badly their lives have been changed. There will be people who have been left ruined and until this scheme was in front of me I never imagined just how people would abuse something potentially so great as the blockchain and crypto currency for something so vile.
I hope one day all of those who lost out can get their money back. It would be nice to set up a fund in which people could donate some cryptos and either carefully trade with it or wait for the market to increase in value to build the pot up eventually enough to offer something of some substance back to them.
I really want cryptos to be the changing of the world for the better. Not to be the tool of evil folks for their own gain. Maybe I am delusional. I dont desire to be rich and as I have got older I dont even desire many things I have some ambitions in life but they dont involve exotic cars, big houses or exuberant amounts of money in my bank. I need some to get by and get annoyed when i make stupid mistakes with the little that I have but if I ever get my little cabin in the mountains hopefully one day I will have no use for money at all.
Wow, I didn't know it went quite that deep. I never quite understood why that guy should attract any interest, and glad to see that he is not poisoning this platform, as he surely would if given free reign.
And even now after all that happened he doesn't stop talking bulls***! He cashed out his money and now tells everybody he got hacked for 111 BTC. Yeah right! He will get what he deserves I trust in that!
Absolutely grimy. I see he is already promoting things like Davor coin and Lendconnect now anyway. Literally exact copies of Bitconnect.
It's incredible what people will do for money. Greed is one of the main poisons of the mind, and I hope this is a wake-up call for many people out there. Great post detailing his lineage! I was wondering what was on about him.
Greed is a powerful thing indeed. Thanks for the comment and check back soon because I am not done with the whole Bitconnect debacle.
" The former will likely become increasingly difficult as Minnow Booster has recently declined Trevon's delegation of SP."
Really nice one mate, you did a good job! Can you shortly explain what delegation means and how is minnow booster declining it from him? Thank you in advance!
Sure, not a problem. So delegation is when you loan out your steempower to another user. But as we know SP can not be transferred from an account completely unless you go through the 13 week power down back to Steem. So instead of powering down back to Steem, you have the option to delegate or send out the steempower that you still control in your account to another account. You can revoke the delegation privileges at any time, yet it takes 7 days for you to use your steempower again to avoid double voting. So minnow booster allows people to delegate their SP to them in exchange for a return. And I think as Trevon began to realize that he wasn't going to be able to post on Steemit anymore in hopes of making money with that power, he decided on a different route, which was through this delegation process. However he is being shut out by most major platforms. Time will tell what his next move will be.
I think I get a better understanding of how it works but its still some question marcs
WOW I am new to Steem and trying to get a full understanding of it. Your comment here is great though. The community being able to stop fraudsters in their tracks is great, thats progress and positive evolution. Blockchain technology can make so many strides forward for the better from what I have come to understand thus far.

Thanks for the article. I know people are upset about bcc but is it confirmed that TJ actually scammed people? It seems BCC did but to me it just seemed TJ was right into bitconnect.
