Yes, this is why I was so interested in Steem now Hive, is an opportunity to publish via the blockchain in combination with a currency not issued by the government. Dan L had some lofty goals.
However, 7 years later, I don't think many of the whales really have or support that vision.
Still for a small number of people it can provide a mild sense of participating
