This post is a fantastic overview of what to avoid and what do do when writing comments on posts. I think everyone on Facebook and Twitter should read this too. If every social-media platform rewarded thoughtful and kind comments, the internet would be a much better place over all.
I have to admit, there have been times when I have commented before carefully reading the post (or watching a video) and the results are sometimes embarrassing. I don't comment for rewards, but it does feel good to see comments upvoted as a way of communicating gratitude.
