The beauty of the blockchain is that it's a public ledger that you can trust.
Something that could happen in the future is ownership of items (Such as cars, boats, land) could be verified by the blockchain.
It seems useful as a long term store of value (as opposed to just a way to transfer money). Peercoin seems to aim for that goal.
Not too sure on uses for the entertainment industry. It could be used for copyright - to prove that you were the first to create something. You could just take a picture/do a writeup of a work and post it on the blockchain just in case you run into legal issues years later.
It's interesting to think about for sure
