Besides Steemit and Bitcoin, What Are Some Others Uses for Blockchain??

in #blockchain8 years ago

What end uses are there for Blockchain technology? I currently use Steemit , Do some light trading and have seen a Bitcoin ATM

As an entertainment industry professional I'm obviously excited about Steemit. But I'm thirsty for more information on blockchain technologies that can be used on a daily basis.

I don't know a lot about other applications, although Sia are working on a decentralized cloud storage system and Golem are working on a decentralized super computer.

Sia - that's good to know! I'm always struggling with storage because I edit a lot of video and shoot a lot of photos. I'll look into it. I checked out Golem ...interesting for sure! Thanks

Watch this video! One of the best interviews I've seen. Trace Mayer and Andreas Antonopoulos are two great Bitcoin/Blockchain enthusiasts, well educated, smart and very open minded!

I'll check it out.

Decentralized apps, exchanges, multimedia distribution, prediction markets, the possibilities are endless!

My biggest focus is the smart contract realm. ETH is the most well known, but the only actually working smart contract platform with GUI is Bitbay. It is a double deposit escrow that ensures contracts are finalized, otherwise both parties are risking funds. You can read through the BTCtalk page here Bitbay.

This is only one of the MANY items on the list of capabilities of the platform and the blockchain tech that Bitbay is working on

The beauty of the blockchain is that it's a public ledger that you can trust.

Something that could happen in the future is ownership of items (Such as cars, boats, land) could be verified by the blockchain.

It seems useful as a long term store of value (as opposed to just a way to transfer money). Peercoin seems to aim for that goal.

Not too sure on uses for the entertainment industry. It could be used for copyright - to prove that you were the first to create something. You could just take a picture/do a writeup of a work and post it on the blockchain just in case you run into legal issues years later.

It's interesting to think about for sure

Can't wait for blockchain apps for the legal world. Tons of applications there.

which legal world are you referring to? Remember I'm a photographer first and someone new to the blockchain

For lawyers. The potential for secure document transfer and and ledgers for evidence present incredible opportunities to eliminate errors and fraud in private and government systems.

I'm also relatively new to the blockchain, so understanding how these applications will actually work is difficult for me. But I can read white papers and repeat all the buzz words so I'm excited!
