Hey there again @mrguttmos!
I have been busy the last week and haven't had the opportunity to read your latest posts. The feeling is very similar to having episodes of your favorite tv-show backed up. I'm here to binge read your daily evaluations. I have actually began eating once a day since being recommended to the video you sent me about ketogenic diets.
That is.... Really quite the compliment and I am very happy to hear that my content is of entertainment value to you!
I have actually began eating once a day since being recommended to the video you sent me about ketogenic diets.
Wow!! That's great!! I can tell you, I have tried basically every protocol worth trying on God's green earth and by far, keto and Intermittent fasting are by far the most effective and natural way I feel my body should be in. I have no doubt I will continue eating this way for the rest of my life.
i already feel better, but im still a bit concerned about taking on a full fledged water fast, since i have very little to none subcutaneous fat.
I would need a little more context to your body type, health history, rough body fat percentage to ever consider giving propoer advice on that, but do let me know and I'll absolutely give you my opinion.
Do understand that fasting itself is multi-faceted. You can do it for a whole host of different reasons. I'd say that regardless of your level of body fat, by virtue of living in the modern world, you almost by default have some sort of blockages and unsavoury substances within you that you would much rather not be there. Even on a short fast, say 3-4 days, you increase your body's level of autogaphy which helps clear out the impurities within you. That in itself would be worth doing.
Alternatively, I think there is massive benefits to doing 1-day broth fasts as well, where for 1-2 days a week, you consume nothing but bone broth which gives the rest your digestive system needs as well as to increase BDNF in your brain and autogaphy in your body.
All in all, I think the frequency of which you are remaining in a fasted state is still paramount. If you simply choose to eat 1 day a meal + the occasional 1 day fast, over the long term, the health benefits are already massive!
if i were to try resetting my gut, as you are doing. would you consider caution ?
I'd say the true benefit of a long fast, which I deem to be 14 days or more, is the resetting of your gut microbiome in it's entirety, the starving out of parasites existing within your system, and autogaphy reaching peak levels. A literal spring cleaning of your system.
For the resetting of the microbiome, I really don't think there is any known way of completely resetting it short of a extended fast. However it's also important to note, the part which I am quite excited to partake, it what you consume when you break your fast is just as important. If it is done excellently your new ecosystem will bring you to new heights, if done in a poor manner, it could lead to overall detriment of your health as well. It's like planting fresh seeds, what you plant is what grows.
For your point about fearing not having enough fat to sustain you the long fast, though I hesitant to be definitive, I will say that the human body is by-far the most amazing survial tool we have ever seen, we did not reach apex levels conquering earth without this fact.
Also, what I've learnt is that subcutaneous fat is often misleading. There are tons of skinny people who "can eat as much as they want" but it's that fat is not stored, it's where the fat is stored. In those cases, often times it's stored around your intestines which is where having fat is truly dangerous.
