RE: Trying Out the Blackstone

in #blog3 days ago

That's really awesome. Even with all the accessories, you are still probably going to find some stuff you want to get. They make some magnetic wind guards that are really helpful if you are out where it is a bit windy. It really helps to keep your griddle from losing heat. They also make a hose that allows you to connect right to a 20 lb propane tank. You just have to be careful because even with the pressure regulator, it still burns quite a bit hotter than the smaller tanks. What kind of oil did you use for the seasoning?

Thanks for the tips! I got the blackstone seasoning jar so I did not have to choose. After I cooked I put another layer of that down then a thin layer of vegetable oil when it was cool.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I really like Avocado oil. It has a high smoke point and good flavor. Like olive oil but it can handle the higher heat. If you get a chance try to watch some of the videos about why doing a big batch of onions on your griddle is a good idea when you first get it.

I was doing the good old Tik Tok research and saw that onion trick. I also saw a lot of recommendations for Avocado oil which I will need to get. I'm planning my second cook tonight if the rain holds out. I was going to do pulled pork tacos!

Sounds delicious! I am going to smoke some ribs on the Kettle and bacon and a potato buffalo chicken dish on the Blackstone.

Sounds good! We will see if the rain holds off
