I've just learned a big lesson withdrawing money from my Hive account.
Over the years, I have drawn out small amounts and once made the error of not adding the memo. We managed to recover that through the binance account by sending them the transaction ID
This time however, I made the mistake of sending the money to deepcrypto instead of deepcrytpo8
I spent a good part of my evening trying to recover the money and very luckily received advise from a good friend on Hive to say that I had lost the money.
Here is the help he sent me:
Ok, that's bad. You have probably lost it.

Deepcrypto has nothing to do with Binance, it is a private account set up to take advantage of errors like yours. You will not get your 200 hive back.
I know this is not what you want to hear.
That account has collected $31,000 through errors like yours.https://wallet.hive.blog/@deepcrypto/transfers @deepcrypto The latest posts from deepcrypto. Follow me at @deepcrypto. Join thousands on Hive.blog who share, post and earn rewards.
PLEASE be vigilant and careful when you withdraw money from your account. I know I won't make this mistake again.
Sadly, my name is on the list of monies received by them 5 days ago.
There is a similar account called bittrix, instead of bittrex set up by someone to do the same thing.
So my dear friends on Hive and all others please be aware.
If I can even help one person with this post, that will be my reward.
I turned 72 yesterday - and I always say - you are never too old to learn.
My motto - Keep on keeping on!!
Love to all.
A good reminder that we always have to be vigilant. Once it is sent it’s hard to get back. A friend of mine once tried to send a small amount of Hive to another account and accidentally sent the entire available Hive. Not a huge amount, only about 2 or 3 Hive, but it’s always important to make sure the decimal is in the place!
I will be extra careful from now on
One must check and recheck before clicking send with crypto transactions. People do things in a hurry, when tired or preoccupied and that can lead to errors.
Not that long ago I sent about $1300USD of Hive from one exchange to another. It was Hive, but I sent it to my HBD wallet and...gone. I raised a ticket, jumped through some hoops and some three or four weeks later it came back. I got lucky and my error, through being tired and preoccupied, taught me a good lesson.
The deepcrypto account is just taking advantage of other people's errors; if the error wasn't made it would gather no Hive. I hope no one else makes the error, but sadly they probably will.
This happened to me sometime back as well. I think I wanted to take advantage of a Hive price spike. Luckily, I was able to recover the money by also sending the exchange a ticket.
For her though, it is just sad people take advantage of others like this deepcrypto dude. One best option is to always use the "copy" address option to avoid misspellings.
Yeah, it was a dumb mistake I made and I knew the instant I clicked send. I was so annoyed. It worked out though, as with you.
This other situation...I guess the account holder is just being opportunistic, but yeah, not something I'd do. It takes all sorts to make up the world though huh?
Thank you @arrliinn
So glad you were able to recover your money @galenkp and I hope this post alerts people to be more cautious
Thanks again for all the invaluable help @galenkp
You're welcome.
So sorry to hear that…
Hope your post gets read by many, so somebody won’t make this mistake.
Thanks for all the info.

Thank you for the support @littlebee4
You are so welcome 😊
Enjoy your Tuesday!
That is absolutely shocking and the person has the nerve to boast about it, beyond nasty!
I'm really sorry to hear this Christine 😞
As i said to Christine, deepcrypto is a dormant account and was created three month before deepcrypto8... no setup for scams, no boasting, no posts, no comments, nothing happening over there. It just benefits of mistakes made by hivers not checking twice.
To call this a scam is not right IMHO and shows only, that everything we do, involving "money", is up to every oneself to check, that what is done really is correct and the way it should be!
Ohhhh, I misread it, I thought that comment came from the account!
One has to check & recheck when it comes to dealing with finances especially when not familiar with systems 👀
Thank you for clarifying that Dan!
With pleasure dear Lizzie... no worries! As you know i'm often much into words and their values. 😎
I don't recall receiving any such message @mondoshawan and I really don't believe that someone should benefit from anyone else's mistakes. If that account was not there the money would be returned to Hive, I am sure. And why would one have an account with no comments, no posts and just benefiting from mistakes of others. Monies should also be returned to those who made the transfer with an error. Afterall the memo has a number that corresponds to deepcrypto8. Why was deepcrypto set up in the first place if only to benefit from mistakes of others.
Sorry, but that's incorrect... i informed you personally in the silver bloggers coffee corner about it this morning.
And again, the deepcrypto account was setup months BEFORE deepcrypto8. No idea why someone would choose a similar name for an exchange afterwards. May ask deepcrypto8 on that one, since it looks more that deepcrypto8 has choosen that one for a reason. Then there are also accounts with the ending numbers from 1 to 9 that most of them are dormant. May all this is the same owner.
So, we can continue to suppose about the why's or go for a deeper research on this subject.
And for the why someone would have a dormant account: that is a good question for thousands of accounts on hive. Which i do not have any answer. And as long as this account owner doesn't access his wallet, he will probably not be aware of all this for now. There are no activities on it since it's creation.
My apologies - I did not see your message. How is it then that the owner of deepcrypto cannot be contacted to return monies to the unfortunates who have mistakenly used his name
For that we would need to know who it is and that's not easy in a more or less anonymous environment. Or "pray" he's loggin' in soon enough, then has a good heart to send the money back. Just not sure if that is even possible in the ego-selfish dimension of our universe Let's hope for the best!
If you really feel like going down that rabbit hole, i would suggest you start asking deepcrypto8 what they think about all these similar accounts... and what they think one could do?
Personally i really get the feeling that these deepcrypto accounts are all out of the same corner and i'm not talking the miss spelt ones at all... that's a whole other story!
hey Christine, that's a very unfortunate thing that's happened to you and some few others as well. ... Thanks for raising awareness for the rest of us.
Oh, dear! I am so sorry to hear about this accident! To loose money is never good, by to have that on your birthday! Oh! What if there is a way to get your money back?
It was great that you decided and found time to tell us about the case. I have just started thinking about withdrawing some money from my account and wanted to ask you how you do that. I have never done it yet, and your post will be a lesson for me.
I will be very grateful if someone can help me with some advice.
I'm not really able to help Olga. I usually send the money to my son's Binance account and then he puts the euros into my account. Yes, it is unfortunate that it happened on my birthday.
I am so sorry about that. It's horrifying. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for your message.
There are lots of these slightly mis-spelt accounts about configured to scam, you have to be very careful.
Thanks for commenting @slobberchops
That's so sad :(
Thank you @devenmalik - you're never too old to learn
Wow, I am so sorry to hear about your losses. Those scammers will always be around trying to make an easy buck. I will reblog your post in hopes it will reach others who may run across this scammer. I will certainly keep on keeping on and I hope you do the same!
Thank you for the heads up, it is a good reminder to be extra vigilant. This must have been so awful for you @chritinepoulos and I daresay the sting is still being felt by you. Rotten unscrupulous scammers are thieves.
Thanks Angie - the sting is there but I'm letting go and believing it will come back to me in other ways. Certainly a huge lesson for me @angiemitchell
Thank u for sharing. So we woll be aware
Yes, please take care
I am so sorry about the money you lost, but money can be replaced, I believe you will receive double of that through God's grace, it could be a blessing in disguise.
I receive those words - thank you. Much appreciated @afterglow
You're welcome and have a nice day ahead.
Thank you for sharing this. I am sorry that you lost so much. I will definitely try to be super careful.
Thank you @pixelhuntersam
Whwt a shame. I also did the same thing when exiting Steem but by misspelling. Many of these accounts are set up to deliberately take advantage of errors and its a shit trick. Anyway. Sorry for your loss.
There is however one little consolation. On the list of people who also made the same mistake is kohsamui99...well known scammer, it seems sometimes, there is some justice after. @livinguktaiwan
I also see trevonjb lost 5k !
😂

I catch up....eventually !
Thanks @nathen007 - haha good if a scammer got scammed

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, or using HiveSigner.
Your support would be really appreciated.
