@omitaylor you seem to be doing not just fine but superb. Thank you for sharing your first one month journey here in steemit. I am new to this game as well and your experience just inspired someone like me to keep on going. However, I heard that your chance of earning from your article is only available during the first seven days? I am quite skeptical because of this. How about the future upvotes that your article might get? Anyway, how to make some $ from here is something I haven't gone that far yet. I am just curious and maybe you know the explanation to that. Again, Many thanks and I hope I can do well here in steemit too.

Hi there @gavinci13! Yes, definitely keep going. I've gotten 2 Curies and featured by several curation groups already to about ~$100USD worth of payouts (I don't cash out though- I do other things.) Not bad for the first 30 days. I have been spreading the rewards around though. My mission here wasn't really to make a living financially here. But it's a worthwhile additional stream of income if used responsibly I feel.
Yes, each article you can get votes on for 7 days. Most people will upvote a newer article if they like an older one but it is past payout. You can also put some codes in your signature to direct people to your most recent post. That way they can vote on it easier.
Making good friends is key here— real not fake. It's like, it's way better to have 100 engaged followers than 1000 people who ignore you. I personally follow EVERYONE (see how my followers are 800+ and I have far less followers) Most don't recommend it, but I use a program called @ginabot to follow people too. So on here, my follows are just to keep my feed interesting. I use Ginabot for the notifications for my friends.
I'm following you now? Do you follow me?
If you scroll down my blog I wrote about ginabot. Do have a look at it.
I like your blog post. Some words of assistance, post once a day- or on average 7 times per week. I sometimes don't post for a few days, but then I come back with 4 or 5 in a row. However, you manage it, post a lot!
You want to give people a variety of things to vote on- but stay real to you.
Comment as much as you can also.I know you've probably heard these things before but don't worry about writing a dissertation. Be friendly and yourself. And as long as you're being regular, people will notice.
I flagged you as a HUMAN in the Steem Sincerity. Hope you post more. Let me know if you need any help. I don't know a lot but I don't mind sharing what I can.
Thanks, you seem to be really friendly. You are right, 100 engaged follower is better. I will eventually get to the point where I can post daily. Thank you for following me, for answering my question and for all of these helpful tips. I will surely check @ginabot and see how it works when I'm not busy anymore. By the way, your profile says that you are a Fil-am? oh, well kamusta kabayan? :)
Kamusta :) Yeah, I live in Boston, MA, USA — I'm mixed, halo lol.. so technically half, although my whole heart. I don't speak Tagalog well. Kinagagalak kong makilala ka :)
You just put a smile on my face when I saw your message "Kinagagalak kong makilala ka" :) Well. Isang malaking karangalan :) Hangang sa muli ako nga pala si Gabby. Magandang Araw Sa Iyo Kaibigan :)
