1 Month Active On Steemit! My Experiences Roundup

1 month on Steemit! 50 Rep. 330+ Followers. 😀 I've made around 20 genuine acquaintances. I feel this was a successful month.

Making Friends

steem-o-graph_1522539880642.png

The hardest part about making friends on Steemit has been breaking the ice. It's not easy to stand out here and it rails against my introvert nature to pursue others. Despite this and other quirks that make me a social nightmare, I'm really proud to have found some people and groups I'm comfortable engaging with.

Autism Families

@jazzyfish has been seeking out and organizing Autism families on Steemit. So far, her list includes @imaginedragon, @aspiejoe, @arteagaile, @erodedthoughts, @bronxb17, @winstonwolfe, @ladymaharet, and myself. It's April and it's Autism Awareness month so hopefully, we can raise awareness on Steemit.

Single Parents

@dflo has been curating Steemit single parents network. So far she's featured @falseydols and @wildempress in her articles. Single parents have a unique challenge having both roles to wield and full responsibility at home.

Sims Gaming Community

ever, Sims. While not really involved (yet, although I am getting weaker and weaker resisting lol) @snook and @simgirl have been making waves playing one of my favorite games

I haven't played since Sims 3 and I'm really soon about to break and download Sims 4 for my daughter and I. Between Sims, Minecraft, and League of Legends (one of my son's favorites)— I'm about to be doomed. I better get that OBS setup cracking soon.

Steemers

Steemers is a Steemit group that started on Facebook head up by @scottcbusiness with a focus on onboarding Facebook users. The discord is here: https://discord.gg/YQW3wUb

Steemit Mastermind Group

I'm brand new to the group and learning what it's all about. The community is super nice. Also on Facebook, I'm not sure the public can really join (can they @kenistyles?) but I'm glad I'm part of it.

Minnow Support Project

While mentioned before, the Minnow Support Project has been incredibly helpful this month— especially in way of answering tough questions in their help forums on their discord channel.

Steem Punks

I joined their Minnow group which occasionally supervotes for each other whenever idle/logged off and whenever vote power is 100%, secondary to trails. I saw something similar to this before but didn't join because they asked for your key. This program they created uses Steem Connect but is the same concept. After visiting, I overall enjoy the dev talk and ideas they have cooking. The discord is here: https://discord.gg/hGJnpJu

#Sharkschool

So @yallapapi officially responded to one of my comments (finally) after a month of my being a prick. I'm a big fan of his banter and evil. Lots of fun people also stalk him and his writing tips. If it were not for his brutal honest advice, I would not have written my rant that earned me a Curie vote. So if you like him or not, what he teaches is effective.

Things That Happenned This Month

Curie Liked Me

2Untitled.jpg

123.jpg

I got a Curie vote! I heard that's pretty rare. I was shocked and awoken by notifications in the middle of the night. It reminded me of my first winner on Shopify because the darn program goes bling bling bling every time you get an order. It felt good. It sort of felt like when you hit on a slot machine. Everyone should try to get one. Lol!

I Won 10,000 PiggyCoin

This was a bounty situation but I didn't think I'd actually get the coins, lol. Well, well, well, ...I did. And my kids were super excited to learn about their first coin. Woop there it is!!! So now I have to promo this coin out the arse. Yo, go cop that! I referred the devs over to a new mobile wallet too and that is doing a launch with multi-coin airdrop. I heard they're working on getting involved sooo hopefully, that will happen. Go cop that. View the bounties on discord: https://discord.gg/XpHZhZj

I'm Whitelisted by Smartsteem

whitelist.jpg

So I'm only 1 out of 3 stars currently, and I don't know what that means (does that mean my blog sucks? hahaha) but none the less, I'm in there! That apparently means I get better accounts voting for me when I use the bot— I think... lol

My First Delegation

In the spirit is goodness, @novacadian was kind enough to delegate me 1 Steem Power. I've been asking in my signature since I can't do enough on Steemit like I wish I could. The gesture was an act of faith. Despite powering up here to the tune of $100 (which is a Stretch for a single mom with 2 kids with special needs) the market pretty much ate it. I really would like to hang in there until the end of 2018. Support makes that possible.

Hello Whales

A few high holding accounts have been upvoting me occasionally. Kind of these to recognize me among the many. I feel flatterred. I took the liberty of going beyond Steemit to see who is who on other Social Networks. It was no surprise that some big players here are just regular folks like you and I, and some regular folks here are whales in the real world. How's that for illusion. In general, it seems people appreciate when you get to know the real them.

Growth

If I were a cryptocurrency, would you invest in me? Lol.

Thank you @lifeisgood7 and nice to greet you. Thanks for stopping by my page. :)

Hey Omi! Such an action packed post. Wow! Congrats on your first months success. You are certainly taking the bull by the horns with your content, shoutouts, and information packed content. Really nice job. I saw you in our mastermind group so I'm now on board upvoting, following, and supporting you. If I had some extra steem, I would be happy to share some with you. Working on that currently. Keep Rockin'!

Rockstar.png

Thank you for the words of encouragement @sourceoftruth. I'm following you back also. It's been a rocky start so I guess I am a rockstar after all lol. I'm enjoying the challenge. This is my type of mountain. ♥️

You have also been producing better quality than the majority of the people who start here in the first month.

Those votes are well deserved and you have a bright Steem future coming up for you madame!

too good (where my time would be undervalued) but not junk (so not wasting anyone elses time.) As my account grows I hope to bring MORE to the platform on par with how the community responds, and give back as much as I can as well. I'm big on reciprocity. ♥️ Thanks for the compliment also. :)I appreciate your opinion @karinxxl ♥️ I'm quite self-concious about the quality of my content here right now. I've not found my rhythm quite yet. But I think I'm getting a hang of things. I'm hoping to find a balance with growth— you know, quality, but not

Super overview and helpful to see how you're going with it. Your content is great and it's nice finding your sassy self online here. Go girl!! Grab it and work it! Gonna be watching you closely, and supporting you too. Nice job.

Thank you @artemislives. I appreciate your ongoing support and encouragement. I have to get around to visiting your blog today. I'm glad it's been mutual for everyone. And I'm really happy that my posts get a lot of conversation going. That really rocks.

Making wonderful connections! 🌈💟
That sounds like a pretty successful month to me too.

Lotsa Love, ~Tiki 🦋💕

Thank you so much @feelization!

Hey, @omitaylor! Thanks so much for the mention! I'm happy to report that our list of families in the Autism parenting community is growing rapidly! Here is an updated list of the amazing families I've found so far: @imaginedragon @aspiejoe @arteagaile @erodedthoughts @bronxb17 @jazzyfish @winstonwolfe @ladymaharet @omnitaylor @sukhasanasister @lugina @beautifulbullies

We also have a Discord Channel named SUPA (Steemit's Unbreakable Parents of Autism) for anyone who would love to join and connect with other families in the community. All parents and people with special needs are welcome!
https://discord.gg/aGZ8MHa

Congratulations on your first month here at Steemit! We are so happy to have you!

Awesome! :D I'm happy to hear that there is a discord channel for families with Autism! Yay! I'll definitely check it out. :)

Hey @jazzyfish I posted a tutorial in the group about how to use ginabot to get direct notifications for each user post and all posts tagged with autism (or similar tags.) Perhaps we should make a list of common phrases to look out for with the bot so to find new people with?

Congratz Omi for achieving so much in little time! You are brilliant and I am sure you will go far and achieve every possible goal you set. I have become your fan, I just love how you curate post. They are brilliant, I wish some day I can make well formatted post like yours.
Thank you for writing nice posts on Steemit and so much more to learn from you 👍

Is this so much? I'm not sure where the bar is here but I'm proud of myself to say the least. I feel like a kid who got a superhero costume and actually picked up something heavy. Haha. Thanks for following and commenting. I'm giving it a best shot. No harm in doing so, I'm making some great relationships here and learning so much about so many different people. ♥️ It's like a globe in a shoebox.

Yes Omi I totally agree with you! Still a long way to go but I am sure you will fly high and achieve even bigger heights. Its nice you are building relationships and interacting with various people all around the globe!

Thank you @gpalav. I am hoping too. I've found a little bit of happy here, and some drama, but mostly happy. :) Thank you for visiting my blog and sharing your thoughts all the time. I really appreciate that. :)

Always, my pleasure! Have a great day ahead 😊

Yay! I'm happy to connect with people who are parents of children with Autism. :) Thanks for the mention. I am going to find this discord channel that I was told about. Lol.

I joined the discord as well. Hopefully I will see you around. I'm working on adding everyone to my ginabot notifications. I posted a tutorial in the group. :)

Thank you @carlnash I appreciate the comment and visit.

Nice post ... looks like you are headed in the right directions with your steemit account.

It's a tough platform to get noticed on.

Thank you so much @rentmoney! I'm sure trying!

Working on it. I have some things stewing and brewing. :) Thanks so much for your help and support this week. It's been easier and I hope to get back around to block stalking this week lol (yours too)

@omitaylor you seem to be doing not just fine but superb. Thank you for sharing your first one month journey here in steemit. I am new to this game as well and your experience just inspired someone like me to keep on going. However, I heard that your chance of earning from your article is only available during the first seven days? I am quite skeptical because of this. How about the future upvotes that your article might get? Anyway, how to make some $ from here is something I haven't gone that far yet. I am just curious and maybe you know the explanation to that. Again, Many thanks and I hope I can do well here in steemit too.

Hi there @gavinci13! Yes, definitely keep going. I've gotten 2 Curies and featured by several curation groups already to about ~$100USD worth of payouts (I don't cash out though- I do other things.) Not bad for the first 30 days. I have been spreading the rewards around though. My mission here wasn't really to make a living financially here. But it's a worthwhile additional stream of income if used responsibly I feel.

Yes, each article you can get votes on for 7 days. Most people will upvote a newer article if they like an older one but it is past payout. You can also put some codes in your signature to direct people to your most recent post. That way they can vote on it easier.

Making good friends is key here— real not fake. It's like, it's way better to have 100 engaged followers than 1000 people who ignore you. I personally follow EVERYONE (see how my followers are 800+ and I have far less followers) Most don't recommend it, but I use a program called @ginabot to follow people too. So on here, my follows are just to keep my feed interesting. I use Ginabot for the notifications for my friends.

I'm following you now? Do you follow me?

If you scroll down my blog I wrote about ginabot. Do have a look at it.

I like your blog post. Some words of assistance, post once a day- or on average 7 times per week. I sometimes don't post for a few days, but then I come back with 4 or 5 in a row. However, you manage it, post a lot!

You want to give people a variety of things to vote on- but stay real to you.

Comment as much as you can also.I know you've probably heard these things before but don't worry about writing a dissertation. Be friendly and yourself. And as long as you're being regular, people will notice.

I flagged you as a HUMAN in the Steem Sincerity. Hope you post more. Let me know if you need any help. I don't know a lot but I don't mind sharing what I can.

Thanks, you seem to be really friendly. You are right, 100 engaged follower is better. I will eventually get to the point where I can post daily. Thank you for following me, for answering my question and for all of these helpful tips. I will surely check @ginabot and see how it works when I'm not busy anymore. By the way, your profile says that you are a Fil-am? oh, well kamusta kabayan? :)

Kamusta :) Yeah, I live in Boston, MA, USA — I'm mixed, halo lol.. so technically half, although my whole heart. I don't speak Tagalog well. Kinagagalak kong makilala ka :)

You just put a smile on my face when I saw your message "Kinagagalak kong makilala ka" :) Well. Isang malaking karangalan :) Hangang sa muli ako nga pala si Gabby. Magandang Araw Sa Iyo Kaibigan :)

Interesting read to a newbie, which you definitely no longer are. Pretty impressive progress - for a "social nightmare anyway" in a month. Picked up a few things, eg the Minnows Support Group and @yallapappi, who seems like a another good source of tips and wrinkles. The Curie concept was also new to me. Did they just stumble across you and recognize your brilliance or was there a particular reason you got noticed, do you know? Anyway, if I can do half as well in my first month I'll settle for it - congrats.

I took a peek at your playlistasartform site and you write far better than I. So you shouldn't have a problem here once you start churning out blogs. I appreciate your compliments. That's a lot coming from someone who writes so well.

Considering your writing style, you may want to consider checking out @isleofwrite, @thewritersblock, @steemitbloggers, @helpie, @curie, and @qurator. I see you have a natural talent for classical prose. You will be appreciated by these groups deeply if you network with them.

I don't really have any secret. I got a Curie twice this past 30 days. Neither person that submitted my posts were followers when they found my posts. I just spilled my guts and anxiously clicked post, with no expectations of outcome... Must be hoodoo. ;)

I write at 10th grade level — at best. Lucky for me because it's all I've got at this point.

As you make friends, some of them may be curators for curation groups. I don't know who is who around here though.

Thanks for the congrats and good luck with your Steemit journey.

Before replying I wanted to repay the compliment by looking properly at some of your posts, especially ‘Growing apart’. The title says it. Though my experience was very different – more a case of being like 15 when I was 25 (God knows what I would have done with a kid at any point) − I can easily relate to things like your struggle to break free of the closed circuit of your upbringing. So many pressures to keep you in the bucket. I cut dead everyone I went to school with, worked on losing my accent, started reading Colin Wilson (old reference) and listening to Beethoven (older still), all things things my friends (not that I had friends) were not doing, and didn’t want to understand. Your growing pains were at least interesting – the backdrop to mine was just meh. Hope you’re planning to do a lot more of the personal stuff: the whole Jamaican period, being shot at (I’m guessing the two might be linked?), the music thing. Seems you are indeed pretty famous in a parallel existence. As for not writing well, you probably know that’s nonsense. I’m not saying a good editor couldn’t tighten it up, but there’s never been a writer of whom that couldn’t be said. The important thing is it’s real and alive and experienced, and this is presumably what people are picking up on. One Curie might have been a fluke, but two, in no time ...

Thanks for the tips about groups I should be checking out, given my “natural talent for classical prose” (lol). You clearly have an appetite for the ins and outs of the workings of the site that I could never match. Keen as I am to interact and play a full part, I’ll always be a “here’s what happens in the first movement of this symphony" typa guy, preferring just to put together posts some people might appreciate. The amount of manipulation that goes on on the site is a bit dispiriting, I won’t lie, but I’ve made a decision to ignore it, or at least not let it discourage me. Trying to get a tiny bit of visibility before setting out, though I think I’m about ready to do my introduceyourself thing. Interested in the possibility of becoming a @steemiteditor. I flatter myself I have the chops, can find the time, and am just about to get a good wodge of STEEM to power up (you need 500SP). At least I was. Now the damn thing has mooned while the BNB I was going to buy it with hasn’t moved as I’d hoped ahead of the token burn so I’ll wait a bit. Need to get 20 posts under my belt to be considered anyway, so no rush.

One last thing. Would you connect with me on LinkedIn? I’m going for the 500+, which might help me get work. Found you on there (500+ tick!), but because I’m not Premium I can’t message you an invite.

I’ll be looking out for your stuff. Thanks again for the leads and encouragement and best of luck with everything. You pretty much rock.
