I know what it is like to be in your situation. It is a culture here in my country but also a common trait of family members.
I don't know if what I will tell you will be useful... but this is coming from my experience.

Exactly, you do not have to do anything to prove it to anyone, you have to do it for yourself and the competition is with yourself. My father saw part of my success but he did not come to see my successful journey completely because he unfortunately died before. But even so he saw part of it and we never discussed who was right because I did not to prove it to him, I did to prove it to myself.
I'm sorry to hear that... I know your a strong person...I can sense that you are well equipped for life...full of knowledge and lessons from experiences...continue doing what's the best coz I know your a good person...and even though I don't know you well ...I am one of those people who believe in your capability....
