So you want to be a big shot huh? Don't we all. In this post I am going to give you the down and dirty on what is going on around here, some pointers and tips, and maybe some motivation. If you find something wrong with what I tell you, you have 2 good options.
- Option 1 - tell me in a comment and start a conversation because that is how you can earn upvotes. Engaging in comments section, not telling people they don't know what they are talking about. Sometimes it is best to phrase it as a question rather than telling someone they are wrong.
- Option 2 - make your own post about it and give out the correct information. You can also make money that way by getting upvotes on your posts.
Everything runs off Steem Power
Steem power is what makes the world go round. If you don't have it you are SOL if you do have it you can reward your friends or crush your enemies. (try not to make enemies because you will get flagged and loose reward money).
If you do not have steem power you will get the dreded BANDWIDTH LIMIT EXCEEDED and you will hate life. The more Steem Power you have the less you will see that damn message. How do you avoid it? Easy, dump a bunch of your own money into your account. A lot of people do not want to do that though so your other option is to keep your usage under control. First you need to know where to monitor it. Here are a couple sites to use.

Probably one of my favorites so far. There is just a TON of info on this site. It has about everything form simulating your steem power to payout history and upcoming payouts. It also has mentions and the ability to monitor everything going on like upvotes, downvotes, incoming payments and all that jazz.
By now your head is about to explode.
How to avoid blasting through your bandwidth.
1- DO NOT EDIT COMMENTS. take time to proofread the first time. Editing to uppercase a letter or change a word will eat up your available bandwidth.
2- Everything uses bandwidth. So in otherwords you have to be thinking 3 steps ahead like a game of chess. Don't do dumb shit like going into your wallet and making SBD into steem every time you get .001 . Sometimes you have to be thrifty. Do you want to make a comment on someones accout that absolutely never upvotes his commentors? I would not waste my bandwidth on a selfish A hole like that so it may be to your benefit to go look at a posters old posts and see if ANYONE got an upvote from him or if he only upvotes the same people every time. Making posts also uses bandwidth so make sure you have some before making a post or you chance loosing the post that you spent so much time making.
Make your post not look like trash
No one wants to live in a hoarders house and no one wants to visit a low effort blog that looks like trash. You can do a simple search and find a lot of free dividers and footers on here to seperate content so it does not look like one long long long run on sentence.

Join busy because they upvote your post for using them AND they make life easy because they make the drop down menus accessable to inexpierenced people. ALWAYS use the BUSY tag or you will not get paid

Well, I never know where my posts are going to end up, sometimes they kinda go off the rails so I am always leary about putting to much of the newbieresteemday name on my stuff. I don't want to give them a bad name because of me. I did tag it in their section that I made on this post. Does that not show up in mentions?
It would show up if someone was checking mentions with Gina. Dave was the only one that did. Don't know if anyone else does it. I don't. I can't even keep track of my own mentions!

I'm not even popular. No one stops by my blog, that's the simple truth. Just have to utilize the best of our wonderful platform to grow in other ways. But some comments do take time to think and write back. That's why I have a hard time catching up. A simple giphy or meme is sometimes simpler.
All your posts are like $28 and $35 dollars, I am lucky to break a dollar ussually. I would say you are at least more popular than I am lol. The pay out on mine are the same no matter the effort put in it seems. very depressing sometimes. I want to make nice things but then nobody gives a shit so I just keep memeing it up i guess. When on the newbie account load steemworld.org @steemchiller has his mentions working pretty good right now. That way you don't miss the shout outs on steemit any ways. You won't see the discord specific mentions though.
@bashadow, the problem is getting the resources to help with the newbie account. There are not many that do help with the account. A few of us have been busy the last two days, and the account just sat there. Silent Dave did the majority of the work on there and he was the one managing the shoutouts. We need more recruits, would happy to have you join in with the efforts if you are interested. ;)
P.S., no way could I keep an eye out for shoutouts with the newbie acct when I can't even manage this one account of mine.
Most days, it seems, I am lucky to get through all I need to do, and with spring almost finally here (still got below freezing last night), I am getting busier in the day. I still haven't even offloaded the pictures I took on our last two outings.
I would like to help, but I honestly just do not have the time with everything I want to do. I got so busy a week or so ago, that I had to drop all but 3 of my discord groupings, I just could not keep up with them all. ASAPer's, greetersguild, steemengine, and several others that were about helping people get recognized and spreading the engagement around, I just...well...it got to be to much to handle. So while I appreciate the trust shown, I just do not think I would be able to do it justice.
whoI really liked @mudcat36 idea when he first approached me about newbieresteemday, I wanted at the time to be fully invested, but I realized that I would not be able to do that, so I let him know what I could and would do to help out. If when I get my own steemit life back under control, I will let you know if I can do more. I honestly do not see how you all keep things running. I am not even sure you all are. I know @charisma777, and @amariespeaks, and you, are pretty much running most of it now, if things change for me in the future, I will try to help a little bit more.
