It has been quite a roller coaster ride for the majority of cryptocurrencies during the last couple of months. The overall cryptocurrency market seems to be poised to break through to new highs, and a few leaders in the blockchain ecosystem are becoming more and more apparent.
According to CCID Research, China's Ministry of Industry & Information Technology, Ethereum and Steem were ranked top of the list that ranked the 28 leading blockchain projects according to three metrics: Technology, Application and Innovation.
One of the greatest technological advantages that Steem has over all the other blockchains is the TPS (transactions per second) capabilities of the Steem blockchain, the almost inexistant transaction costs and the fact that the blockchain is capable of supporting a huge number of decentralized applications on the already existing infrastructure. Having banned its exchanges and ICOs on its territory, China now seems to be warming up to cryptocurrencies as enablers of great blockchain projects, opening a new frontier of opportunities across all industries.
To add to this positive new development, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, went as far as to say that Ethereum could become the new Apple. He further added “Ethereum interests me because it can do things and because it’s a platform.” Source

It'll be interesting to see what happens to these rankings once EOS has been running for a few months. I think it'll eventually overtake Ethereum.
