It was time to harvest some figs when I saw the fruits hanging down from the tree in my backyard. It is an incredible feeling picking your own straight from the tree itself!
You need to know the right time to pick the figs as if you pick them too early, the fruit is quite hard and tastes horrible. But when the figs are ripe, OMG, they are so sweet and delicious!
Before I came to UK 19 years ago, I never tried a fresh fig. I am not sure why but in China, we only consume the dried figs when making soup. Until I tried the fresh fig for the first time, it tasted like no other! It has fast become one of my favourite fruits of all time. I am so lucky to have a fruitful fig tree in my garden and get to enjoy them every autumn!
