Cons of cannabis
Now that I have discussed the benefits of cannabis, it’s time to discuss the cons. I’m going to talk about psychological and physiological cons amongst a few other things.
The psychological cons are as follows: Predisposed individuals may have a latent mental illness being triggered, it may disrupt learning, it can affect short term memory, it may have a risk of addiction however it is not very likely to be addictive. As you can see, there are not a whole lot of serious issues, but if you are going to use cannabis I recommend consulting a doctor to see if you are predisposed to mental illnesses.
Physiological problems are another thing. Here is a short list: Lung damage when smoked and raised heart rate, these are of course not the only issues, but they are the only one’s worth mentioning here. If you want to take care of your lungs, simply administer it another way, such as eating it in a brownie. If you have heart problems or heart problems runs in your family you should be careful, maybe even see a doctor to see if you have any heart problems.
Some other issues are of course the law, if cannabis is illegal where you are I would advise against using it. And of course, there is the price, if it is legal where you are it is probably taxed the same way as alcohol or tobacco, which makes it rather expensive.
So, to sum this all up I say that there are no real health risks as long as you do your research and you see a doctor.
See a doctor before smoking weed? PMSL! :D I don't think many will follow that bit of advice.
Interesting post, all the same. Re mental illness - I'm coming to be of the opinion that mental illness is one long continuum. Everyone has it (or at least has had it) to a degree, I'd say. Whilst government agents will say weed leads to mental health issues, I'd say governments cause more!
Maybe it could exacerbate a serious condition (eg. schizophrenia / depression, even) but then again they're happy to take bribes off breweries and allow alcohol to remain legal which has to be considerably more dangerous to just about anyone who drinks (and people affected by people that drink).
There are a million and one worse things legal. But that's governments for you.
I need to SEE a doctor now that this shit open my eyes to all the lies now!
I'm sorry, I don't mean going to a doctor just because you want to smoke weed, however if mental illness is in the family it won't be that stupid to go. Although, I have never heard of a case where someone had their mental illness ''triggered'' by weed.
If one of my parents had schizophrenia, I might go for a chat with my doctor to reassure myself. Drugs (legal / illegal / perfectly natural / perfectly unnatural) might all come up with your doctor but it's best to avoid them if they're old-fashioned / likely to toe the governement line. But I doubt I'd go looking for a quack opinion unless it was offered honestly. You could include hallucinogens in the mental illness debate. The US wanted to develop them to use them as chemical weapons (LSD) yet many people (myself included) think they're the best thing for a damaged mind.
This comment is very true, I really like the LSD part. I am also someone who supports the use of LSD for for example therapy, there is lots of evidence that it works for therapy.
