RE: Cons of cannabis

See a doctor before smoking weed? PMSL! :D I don't think many will follow that bit of advice.

Interesting post, all the same. Re mental illness - I'm coming to be of the opinion that mental illness is one long continuum. Everyone has it (or at least has had it) to a degree, I'd say. Whilst government agents will say weed leads to mental health issues, I'd say governments cause more!

Maybe it could exacerbate a serious condition (eg. schizophrenia / depression, even) but then again they're happy to take bribes off breweries and allow alcohol to remain legal which has to be considerably more dangerous to just about anyone who drinks (and people affected by people that drink).

There are a million and one worse things legal. But that's governments for you.

Sort:

I need to SEE a doctor now that this shit open my eyes to all the lies now!

I'm sorry, I don't mean going to a doctor just because you want to smoke weed, however if mental illness is in the family it won't be that stupid to go. Although, I have never heard of a case where someone had their mental illness ''triggered'' by weed.

If one of my parents had schizophrenia, I might go for a chat with my doctor to reassure myself. Drugs (legal / illegal / perfectly natural / perfectly unnatural) might all come up with your doctor but it's best to avoid them if they're old-fashioned / likely to toe the governement line. But I doubt I'd go looking for a quack opinion unless it was offered honestly. You could include hallucinogens in the mental illness debate. The US wanted to develop them to use them as chemical weapons (LSD) yet many people (myself included) think they're the best thing for a damaged mind.

This comment is very true, I really like the LSD part. I am also someone who supports the use of LSD for for example therapy, there is lots of evidence that it works for therapy.
