I saw a post by @melinda010100 about a photo contest, and when the subject was wood, I had to jump in!
My cousin Brad- my childhood best friend- bought land in Vermont and built a tiny house. Almost entirely on his own, with a little help from his wife and a few people who came to help with things that weren't possible for him to do alone.
The top picture is mine, the ones of the building process were taken by his wife and sent to me, then the rest are mine :)
What blows me away is how much actual room is in this little guy.
From the front it looks so tiny!
The side view is a bit more proportional.
There's actually a tiny mudroom before you enter the kitchen, but I can't find my pic of that, or of the bathroom.
The bookshelves/stairs are ingenious!
It's funny because as a kid his dad built him a bunk bed that had an entry point to the attic, and this reminds me of the stairs leading to it.
My uncle is a master carpenter, which is where my cousin got his gift and of course learned his skills.
In fact, my uncle built a giant log cabin many years ago that was incredible. Wish I had the pictures of that.
This is like a teeny version of it!
Most of his supplies are repurposed. He helped people pull down barns and sheds for a few years and gathered everything usable.
Surprisingly this is not his profession- he is in fact a master Baker. He's currently building an outdoor kitchen and I can't wait to visit, eat some pies and wood fired pizza!
Once again, this contest was brought to us by @friendlymoose #POBphotocontest
This is such a fabulous thing! Tiny houses are cool, but built from repurposed materials is stellar! He did a great job too, it is lovely! Thanks for sharing! 😊
I agree, I am definitely proud that he's my family. He's as thoughtful about everything as he was about this design :)
Thanks for stopping by!
That's pretty amazing.
It really is. He also has chickens, acres of gardens and has put in a greenhouse since I was there last :)
I always feel like people who build and design their own tiny houses are super smart. It's amazing how they use space so well in such a small area. This tiny house is really beautiful and I love how everything is repurposed.
Hey there! How are you? It's excellent to see you :-)
I absolutely agree, there is a definite kind of genius in it. Yeah, the repurposing is awesome,he also has a composting toilet- he's been very environmentally conscious since his late teens, definitely made me more so :0)
I really like the idea of Tiny houses. Especially those who go completely off grid.
Great submission! Thanks for joining the #POBphotocontest
This is actually his second tiny house, the first was built on the back ten acres, through the woods, of a friend's place. That was off the map so far he had to snowshoe in from his car in the winter. This one, well he not only acquired a wife since then but also a little boy.
They do have an electric hookup for a few things, but they heat with wood and their bathroom is a composting toilet set up. Plus they have chickens and acres of gardens- if the world fell completely apart, they'd be just fine:)
